I have a spare set of 99-02 factory fog lights and inserts and was thinking of putthing them on the 97. I know there were some issues with the 98 1/2's and up having fog lights with the automatics, but I don't know if that issue existed with the 97's. The owners manual references that the optional fog light switch is next to the overdrive switch, and Dodge probalby wouldn't say that if you couldn't get them with an automatic...

I've measured the best I could compared to the 99 6 speed, and it sure looks to me like they will fit, but in examining all of the readers rides from 94-97, I could only fine 1 or 2 automatics with fogs, and I couldn't tell if they were factory or not.

Anyone try this?

The automatic transmission cooler is probably the reason there was a problem with fog lights on some model year Rams. I just don't think there was enough depth to cram the radiator, trans cooler, and intercooler so close to the bumper.

They'll go in, but I did it while the bumper was removed. Looks too tight with the bumper in place.

When I ordered my 98 with the tow package and fog lights the factory came back and said that the fog lights will not fit with the added tow package . The only thing I could see was the transmission cooler was close to where the fog light would have been mounted.

I also have the tow package. The factory fogs bolt onto the bumper itself, and, yes, taking the bumper off makes the install mucho easier! Maybe the earlier trucks are sufficiently different.
