Anybody know where I can get another one? Mine has "failed" and DC will not replace it; out of (mileage) warranty. Truck is just over two year's old. Nice piece of safety equipment, eh?

Or... . you could go down to your local discount store {walmart, kmart, etc} and pick up a small version of a floorjack with its own carrying case. They are inexpensive and a heck of alot easier to use than the factory jack.

Wal-Mart has a 2-ton floor jack for about $25 before tax. Cheap insurance if you ask me (now I need to get one of those and a fire extinguisher, heaven help me if I have a flat I'll be walking:{ )

This is slightly off post, but when I had my '95 the ratchet lug nut wrench fell apart the first time I needed to change a tire and would just spin instead of, uhhh..... well... working.

a 2 ton floor jack won't lift up the front of our trucks, well not easily anyway... . I tried it. so I got a 3 ton floor jack for the garage and I plan on getting like a 6 or 8 ton bottle for on the road. they are taller and work easier.

I also saw in harbor freight a tall 24" bottle that is air/hydraulic and would be great for lifting up the side at the frame. I have a air compressor so all I would have to do is hook it up to the 12 vlt and lift away:D

My Mom called me one day and said to go by a jack becouse her stock jack would not even reach the axle:mad: with a flat tire, WTF:confused: :{ So I bought a 2. 5 ton jack and it would barely pick up the truck. I later bought a 6 ton bottle jack for her and one for me and have had no problemsOo.

JUNK THE STOCKER

BOMBS away on the jack:D

Amen to Bottle Jack

I bought a 6 ton bottle jack on sale for about $20 and made an adapter out of a 3x1" piece of channel iron and 3/4" length of 1 1/4" pipe. You weld a 3/4" piece of the 1 1/4" pipe to the bottom of the channel iron. The adapter sits on top of the bottle jack, with the channel iron edges facing upwards, to straddle the axle, preventing the jack from slipping off of the axle when raising the truck. A 6 or 8 ton bottle jack lifts our trucks up almost effortlessly.

I'd encourage everyone to try out their POS stock jack in the driveway before it leaves you stranded when you really need it.

Hey now, easy on me, he wanted to know where to get an OEM jack, and I told 'em. Not that I encouaged him to "USE" it, I dunno, maybee he wanted to jackup his lawn tractor or somthin'.

Hummm, I have used the factory jack quite a few times in the 150,000 miles I have on my truck and it has worked every time, no speed champion, but it has never failed, and goes high enough to change out 285's on the truck. Course I have backups of a 3 ton floor jack under the toolbox and a 20ton bottle jack (for tractors) in the toolbox. I have just used the stocker, since it is always easier to get to and has worked.

Morph.

The factory jack did not work for me when I had a flat, luckily at my neighbor's house only about 200 feet from my home. I went and got my 12 ton bottle jack. I use the factory jack as a wheel chock and don't even carry a spare anymore. Only had two flats since I bought the truck (Feb 96), one in my driveway and the one above. On the road with my bigger trucks I just call a tire service and figure I'll just do the same with the Dodge.

I carry a 6 ton and 2 ton bottle jack in my tool box. Also carry the OEM junker... . just because..... Have a 2 1/2 ton floor jack at home, use that for tire rotating, etc.

I also carry a six ton bottle jack and the OEM jack. Glad I had both in 1999 when I had a left front flat while on the Alcan and carrying a 3500# slide in camper. The left front was too close to the ground for either jack. I used the bottle jack on the frame to gain clearance and the OEM jack to lift the wheel. Two jacks can come in handy.
