Hi,

I hear the factory LSD can wear out, do lockers wear out? Is it possible to put lockers in front and back? If I have lockers will I never be able to lend my truck out in fear it might not come back? Here in Michigan we have snow and ice. In the thaw of winter the ice is very slippery.

I would like to keep my factory 3. 54 gear ratio, so I do not have to fiddle with the speedo. Is this after-market thing something that your above average Joe can do? Are there places that will pay for my factory differential?

What are you going to use the truck for?? If you do plan on getting off the pavement alot the lockers are the way to go. However it is a little different driving a locked truck around town. You get tire drag around corners which can get some pretty odd sounds from your tires. And going off of the way my toyota(which was locked in the rear) drove with wieght in the bed i would not want to pull a load with a locker due to the increased stress on the axle when turning sharp. If you have the money an ARB locker can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch. Have fun

I fretted over the whole LSD thing for a few weeks. I have the LSD in my 2001 and it seems a bit too weak for the mighty Cummins. I get 1 wheel peel more than I ever have with my 1/2 ton's LSD.

If you are going to be doing anything off-pavement you need something. Aftermarket units are probably better than stock but research the installation.

You may want to look at Power Trax new No-slip. It is supposed to be like a true locker but not as much noise.
