Copyright Violation? Fishy This Something Is.

Hmmm. Some interesting things look wrong with this.

1. Real factory technical service manuals usually cover only one year, not multiple years.

2. A real factory manual will cost $80 to $120 depending on the year. The "book" format manual for my own 1996 is one volume, the same format for my office's 2004. 5 is two volumes. Either fits on a single CD-ROM for about the same price.

3. A real factory manual is copyrighted, and anything selling for much less than the list price might not be an authorized copy. (That is a polite way of saying stolen intellectual property. )

4. We can buy actual factory technical service manuals from Geno's or from Chrysler (I think we still can) for about the $80 to $120 range.

5. A legitimate, copyright authorized publication that covers multiple years is not likely to be a factory manual. Chiltons, Haynes and others are like that.

By the way, I completely agree with your sentiments about Chiltons manuals! I have little but contempt for them. They seem to cover too much, too many different models, and too many years in one small book, and tend to get the specifications wrong. Then (for example) showing a Chevrolet V8 when trying to describe rebuilding a Jeep V8 is lazy journalism.

Haynes Manuals, on the other hand, are a whole lot better than Chiltons, but not as good as a Chrysler factory manual. (The best, in my own opinion were AMC and Jeep manuals, which the current Chrysler manuals now seem to closely resemble in format, layout and writing style. I am assuming that Chrysler used some of the AMC writer-editors that they obtained in the 1987 merger. )

But I digress. Again. :D

If you went to the Web site then you'd see it's one manual for each year.

The description of the '01 manual matches my '01 PDF.

Of course it's a bootleg but it's no different than the copies you find on the Internet.

Yep, the link is for multiple years, but the manual I have is only for one. Looks legit, insofar as content, but for copywrite, I am not so sure. Conveniently, those pages are missing... JK

I just passed the info along trying to help out...
