I was at the dealer the today for something else and he mentioned that they couldn't do it today but the next time I was in to mention that I wanted to have the recall work done on my hitch. I apologize for not knowing exactly what it is but I have a 99 2500 if that helps. :)

Sloan-

I had it done on mine. It's been a while, but as I recall they added a bracket on both sides by drilling and bolting on an extra bracket. I don't like taking my truck to the dealer for anything, but I would do this since it's simple and they have experience doing a lot of them. They did a good job on mine and I think it does add some strength.

Hello To all!!

I know that when my brother had his truck in for his 7500 Mile Oil change, they inspected his hitch and after inspection, they replaced the entire hitch. They said that it was cracked He had recently done some heavy towing with it so that was probably what did it. Well, take care!

The first thing I did was take of that factory class 5 and put on a Reese Titan Class 5, it's rated at 12,000 lbs! Now that is a REAL hitch, it's got a 2 1/2" receiver. The frame rail will break before that thing even gets a scratch.

Sad to say, but this is the ONLY thing the dealer has done without giving me any crap when I took the truck in to replace the lift pump under warranty. I had to argue with the service mgr. because they would not fix the "intermittant stumble" and install the TSB unless the problem happened while it was in the dealership.

I replaced my hitch within a couple of weeks of this recall. I contacted D/C after my hitch was replaced (was on the road and had to get rolling - paid for it myself) and they paid for the cost of my class V Draw-Tite hitch. A case of good timing most likely.

I wasn't sure about the kit, but...

after I saw it, I figured it would be stonger than any factory hitch that they were going to use as a replacement anyway.

cracked hitch

They need to expand the hitch recal to earlier models as well. My Mexican Built '97 was built in '96 and I had to weld gussets to the hitch to keep it from cracking further.
