2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Factory Security System Red Light???

I have a 2001 with a factory alarm system. When I lock the truck using the key fob the little red light that is in the bottom of the overhead console would blink. No it doesn't any more. the alarm still works, but the light does not blink. I think it might just be burnt out.

Has anyone ever replaced that little light?

I'm sure it's a LED... thus would require unsoldering the old one and soldering in a new. Good luck!

Go it finished.



The dealership wanted a few hundred dollars for a new console.



I bought a LED from a electronics supply store for . 14 cents and soldered it in. Works great!!

mines a 99, i dont think it has a red light unless its recessed in that little hole... is it? or does it stick out a little. mines never worked. .

It sticks out about a 1/16".



A friend of mine has a hole in his console, but there is no light too.

I changed mine to a blue LED just to be different. Not to hard to do if you have had some experience with soldering. Rich
