Truck Camper with..

i just purchased a camper with extended sleeper over the cab. My 06 came equipped with the Sirius radio and the antenna is located on the top just a few inches forward of the cab mounted brake light

problem is that when the camper is on there is no signal. I made an appointment at Best Buy to have another antenna installed, leaving the original in place so that when i trade the truck i can just plug the original antenna back in .

unfortunately, when i got to Best Buy and they realized it was a factory install they said there was no way for then to do it. Suggesting i would need to go to Dodge to get an antenna with a plug that would fit there factory plugs. i called dodge and they said ??????????? , take it to any Sirius installer and they can do.

Anyone addressed this issue yet ?

go to best buy and get a magnetic mount. remove your glove box and look up and unplug the antenna and plug in the new one and put on your dash or out front. if i remember it is red on the end just pulls out. i went to best buy and they told me the same thing. do a search on this site my instructions might still be on here.

I found the connection for the antenna above the glove box. How do you guys get the antenna out of the cab to the front of the truck. I tried it on the dash and it cuts out all the time. I'd hate to drill a hole in the firewall:eek:

mine worked o. k. on the dash but works better outside. i just ran it thru the passenger door under the door seal and put it on the plastic between the window and the hood. i cut a piece off of the non skid mat i bought at wall mart and it stays in place. they are little pads about 6" by 4" that you can place on your dash to set your cell phone or glasses on and what ever you place on it will not move. can't remember what you call them. in the auto section of wall mart maybe 5 to $10. it wont hurt the little wire going thru your door.

I have mine right next to the last cab light on the drivers side and have never had a reception issue pulling a 5er. Maybe its just the "quality" of the oem parts:-laf.

Sirius Radio Antenna

Had the same problem with my 6. 7 CTD with cabover camper on truck-if the camper has a non-metallic roof some factory installed antennas still work with camper on truck.

I ordered a Sirrius antenna from Sirius. To install, remove Glove Box, look straight up-my Sirius antenna connector was yellow, had a lock on it,after removal of yellow connector, I had to push in new antenna connector very hard to get reception. Put antenna puck at front of hood, running wire under hood to passenger door -easy to hide antenna wire.

I have the same problem. I didn't have the factory Sirius, but aftermarket Kenwood. I had the antenna on the dash, and the overhang of the Lance is so much that it blocks my Sirius and my GPS when on the dash.

There is a rubber grommet that can be pulled out and re-installed. It is to the left of the steering shaft on the firewall. I have several wires and my CB coax running thru that grommet. I just made a small hole in it and all the wires go thru there.

I put my magnet mount Sirius antenna on the hood, in the center, right at the rear edge by the cowl (by the wipers).
