2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Factory stereo - anyone know which module it goes thru?

Started another thread earlier that was the 'no bus' problem - since I cleaned the battery negative terminal and reset/checked all plugs on the PCM the dash gauges all have worked with no problems for three days now. The stereo freaked out (full volume with no response to power button/volume control, etc) and only thing that helped it was pulling the 'amp' fuse. So maybe my problem is the stereo/amp (why is there separate amps for the speakers on a wimpy stock stereo anyway ) - I'll be happy to upgrade to an aftermarket head unit BUT want to figure out which module the stereo wiring goes through? Is it the CTM? Another? Any ideas?

The steering wheel controls go through the CTM.

I'm w/Dennis as the steering wheel controls in mine will act funky once in a while. When I turn volume down on wheel control it will go up instead??? After a few turns of the wheel it returns to normal - so far.
