Does anyone know if you can replace the standard barebone cd player, with the infinity cd/cassette combination, without any other changes? I had heard the infinity required amps on each speaker to work properly? I would like to switch, if it is simply a plug in swap. thanks guys.

Good question! I wondered too. I assumed that all the oval shaped radios would work but maybe that's not the case. It will be interesting to hear from those who know!

The main in-dash head unit can be swapped without any problems; if you want to replace the Infinity amp & speakers, unfortunately, it's not a bolt-in swap. There's no wiring for the Infinity amp, no wiring in the dash for the tweeters either. I had this brainstorm that I'd do the same thing you're speaking of, but it didn't work out. I was totally surprised to discover that DC actually used a different wiring harness in a RAM that has Infinity versus one that does not. Hope this helps !

I pulled the CD/Cassette out of my 03 and put it in my 05 no problems... . the 03 had the infinity system and the 05 did not... sounds fine to me.

I have the plain, cd only, factory head unit. Greg, are you saying you dont think i can swap the cd/cassette combination for what i currently have??

No problem that is exactly what I did... works great. Nice to have the CD for books on tape... enjoy. The dealer actually let me do it in the parking lot... they even pulled the new one out for me. .
