I would like to know if anyone has the factory tow hooks on their trucks. The only Dodge's that I have seen with them are half ton's with the Off-Road package. The Service Manual shows them for the 2500/3500 but I never saw a place to specify them when I ordered my truck. I want to order them through the dealer but I want to make sure that they will fit the H. D. trucks first.

Thanks in advance,Thomas

I put a set on my truck a 2000 2500 4x4. Got them from Dodge dealer parts department. Kit comes with hooks and brackets and all hardware. I think I paid $110. 00 for kit.

Thanks alot for the info. Great pictures ! Just what I wanted to know.

What would I have had to do to get them on the truck from the factory? I am ordering them tomorrow to install myself but I am just curious how I missed that option.

Again THANKS for the info. Thomas

Gotcha, I thought I was really specific when I ordered my truck and just figured DC dropped the tow hooks for 2002, it's good to know that I did not miss anything. Thanks for all the reply's,Thomas

Honestly, the only tow hooks that I have ever used are the ones on the front of a Ford I was pulling out of the sand. :D

Tow hooks are only for trucks that get stuck!

Stownsend,( Ha, Ha ) I agree, but I also believe in being prepared and want a decent place to attach too on the front. Hopefully I will only need them for helping other people. I can't really cuss the Ford's ,if Ford would have put a Cummins in a F-350 I would own one. I REALLY like my Dodge but I bought it because of the drivetrain not loyalty to DC.

I put them on my 2001. 5 shortly after buying it. If you have the air dam, you have to cut it out. I used a round hole saw to make each corner and then cut out the rest. Lots of mounting bolts and very well made. They are a bit pricey, however after you get the 50lb box of "stuff" you will understand the price. SNOKING

Before you buy them from your local dealer, give Mechanicsville Dodge (VA) a call. 800-559-6698 ask for Daniel. Tell him you saw them on the net. My local dealer wanted $128 for a tie rod end, M-ville wanted $88+ shipping. That's a 30 some percent difference, even w/ shipping. No sale tax since I'm out of state. If they have it in stock they ship that day. Add a couple days if they don't. Just passin' it along.

SNOWKING , What size hole cutter did You use? That is the way I was thinking about doing mine and I was wondering which size would be just right. Everyone who posted pictures looks like they did a great job on the cut outs. I just want to have plenty of clearance w/o hacking up the airdam. TIA, Thomas

I just plunged into the center with a dremel tool and used it to follow just to the inside of the outline that's in the air dam. I then switched to the sanding attachment for the dremel and sanded up to the line. Looks OEM. The only way to tell it's not OEM is to get right up to it and run your finger around the hole... no matter how careful you are, it's never going to be quite as smooth as if it's laser cut from the factory... . you can't tell by looking though.

I purchased a new set on Ebay

I purchases a new set on Ebay. It was a factory kit. Two holes need to be drilled in the frame as it did not match up to my 2001.

In the future, I would recomend drilling the plates to match the frame. it would be easier. It a pain drilling standing on your head. The hooks look and works great.

I told the neighbor it be easyer to pull PS out of the ditch next time.

Joe

I installed the factory tow hooks (P/N 82204881) on a 2001 3500 and the brackets lined up with the frame perfectly without drilling.

Can not remember what size the hole cutter was. There is a raised line on it as a guide. OK, so maybe you do not have all the sizes, so I held up a 1 1/4 and it looks like that is what I used. SNOKING
