One wheel has ceased to report to the EVIC. do these have replaceable batteries or do I have to replace the complete sensor. I am guessing that they are in the valve stem inside the rim?

Thanks

The batts in the sensors are not serviceable nor are the oem sensors cheap. I would take it to a shop that can diagnose your issue

So if you get the factory TPMS system on the RAM 3500 DRW 4X4, you cannot change the battery?
Seems if you go with aftermarket TPMS systems, there are a lot of different systems out there, that allow that. Then you would be able to at least change the battery, to prove the battery works at least.
Just asking what would be a better TPMS, Factory or aftermarket.
Thanks,
Scott

I do not believe TPMS is available on the DRW? I take delivery today on mine, will find out if it has it, but the build sheet says "delete TPMS"

DRW does not have factory TPMS. Have to go aftermarket. NTSB, or IHS, or whoever governs that part doesn't require it on a Dually. I guess they figure tire pressure isn't that important.

I know I have seen pictures showing a factory TPMS on a DRW EVIC, but I cannot remember which brand or if it was on a prototype truck

I think for '14, Ram is doing TPD (Tire Pressure display) on the 3500s. Same as the TPMS on the 2500s, but has not idiot light for running lower pressures.

I have heard something like that too. Will find out in a day or two, when I pick up my '14 DRW. But, it said delete TPMS. But, maybe it has something else?

A little more information:
the sensor seems to return to working order intermittently for a few miles or more or less, then returns to dashed lines on the EVIC. The warning lamp also goes away while the sensor is working.

Thank You both for the replies. I do want to get a TPMS System to monitor the tires on my DRW.

I want to know if i am loosing air in my tires before it blows, when towing. I do check my tires regularly so that will not change. Of course with a sudden blowout the TPMS will not alert you soon enough i realize. Will plan on a aftermarket TPMS unless Dodge starts to install the TPMS in the future, then will visit the issue again.

Both my 13 3500s do not have TPMS, I install Pressure pro, The up front cost are about $500 for the sensors and module, I've been using pressure pro on most of my Trailers and trucks for 9 Years, its tricky setting the position and pressure, once you get the hang of it its easy, O also some of My original sensors are still working. One plus for the pressure pro is it warn if the pressure is going up, Air expands when it gets hot, so in theory just before tires blow they get hot. Over the years the system has paid for itself.

the addition of trailer monitoring is a big +

here's were I get my stuff http://www.tirepressuremonitor.com/ Wayne will talk your ear off, Its a good system once you get the hang of it.

Thank you TCDiesel, Appreciate the information. You are the fourth person to recommend Pressure pro. Looks like a pretty good TPMS System, what i have read so far. Will be the first addition i will be adding. You do have to change out the factory tire rubber stems to metal correct?

Do you also add extension to each of your Dually tire stems to be able to add air to the tires easier than not having extension?

thank you for your reply,

Scott

No, you just add the sensor to the stem... I have never had 1 stolen or lost one, you add a jam nut to them, and if someone wants to steal 1 its very tuff and next to impossible without breaking the stem off. Just add the sensor to the inside tire on DRW.

Great news TCDiesel,

thank you

08 6.7 Auto SRW longbed 2wd ,

Tire sensor error occurs intermitently ,pressures good

went to tire shop scanned wheels, said i had 1 with a low battery so i said replace it , now i have tire sensor light that comes on flashes tire pressure have never been a issue till i got 1st low tire

had them rescan wheels at 2 different tire shops they say all sensors are showing good batterys but dashboard light still comes and goes at random

tire guys rescan rims, guys have no clue for this issue ? as there little sensor reader says all are good ,at 60 bucks a shot guessing is not a option?

any suggestions?

• 315Mhz is this correct ?

What is the OEM Frequency?

What is the OEM Part Number for this appl? are they based on VIN? Are local auto parts items worthy? rubber or metal stems? oem are metal

• These supposedly come pre programmed to your year, make and model, however you will need to have these relearned to your vehicle.

Any help or troubleshooting is appreciated

what is the specific frequency for this model is it based on the VIN? heard Siemans was the OEM vendor, seems tire shop one might not be correct for application? Mighty chinese brand my mistake? possibly wrong part, this is what i get for being in a hurry to fix and not investigate correctly,

They were Schrader. Back then they should have been 315mhz. These are the possible OEM sensors used on 2008 DR/DH trucks.

Doran is another good brand.

rep1978,

I have been using the Doran 360RV system on my three-axle travel trailer for two years now and I like it.

The system will easily sense the signals from the six tires on my 36-foot trailer. If my truck’s factory sensors failed I could add additional Doran sensor/transmitters for the pickup’s tires. The system allows up to 36 tires to be sensed and displayed. This would be plenty for a truck with six tires plus a spare and a trailer with six tires plus another spare. You can buy the system with as many sensors as you need.

Some folks have complained about battery life in the sensors, but if you remove them from the tire when they are not in use they shut off. I suspect that people who have experienced short battery life are leaving them on the tires all the time. Short battery life is a relative term. Several years of life is not uncommon.

The system allows you to program the low-pressure alert pressure, and will also sound an alarm if the pressure is too high (for a tire that gets too hot from an overheating bearing or dragging brake, for example). It will also alert you if it loses the signal from a sensor.

My system is absolutely reliable, and gives me some nice peace of mind while I tow my expensive trailer. Highly recommended.

You can find more about it here: http://www.doranmfg.com/rvtirepressuremonitors.htm

Possibly that wheel needs to be relearned. If they did not do the "learn" process correctly, the system may be receiving a sensor signal but it is not exactly correct.

Wrong one, either frequency is off or the pressure is wrong. Any of my Chrysler products will learn a new sensor within a half mile. GM on the other hand is a PITA to get working.
