Factory window tint ???

I'd like to match the factory tint on my new MC's rear/side windows to put on the fronts and rear window. First, is it a film tint or is it a "smoked glass" tint on the new trucks? Does anyone know what color,type,or what % it is? Or, do I just go to a shop and pick the closest match? I'd like to get the same if possible so I don't have two different shades of tint.

The factory is smoked glass.



When I had my tint done I believe that 15% matched the rear glass/doors.

I don't remember what percentage they did mine to make it match, but 15% sounds about right. If you go to a reputable shop and just explain what you want to do they will be able to match it up without you knowing the percentage ahead of time.

Also check your state code for tint percentage on drivers/passengers front windows and consider traveling to other states that possibly don't allow aftermarket tint. My state Texas, your only allowed 35% on the drivers/passenger windows. The rears can be the limo 5% tint. The cops here will make you remove the tint at the time of the stop or pull over if illegal and possibly issue a ticket, warning/or the real thing.
