Trailer Brake question

I am currently re-wiring my truck for towing because someone (Previous owner) "customized" the original harness.

I would eventually like to pull a gooseneck but for now I just want the bumper pull on the factory hitch useable. I called Dodge and they want $135. 00 for the wiring that plugs back into the main harness under the truck bed. Does any one make an after market that plugs into the original plug in the factory harness?

Does any one have one they want to sell?

Does any one have a better solution?

I have seen the T-type connectors and I really don't want one of those. I would like it put back original, I am kind of wierd about that kind of thing.

Any help is appreciated.

Plug

If it was me i would just buy a a 6 or 7 pin connector and a piece of rubber coated 7 wire trailer wiring and cut off the factory plug and wire up your own plug and spend about $20. 00 verses what the dealer wants. I have wired alot of trucks for trailers and campers and i have done the customizing quite a few times. Just my thoughts.

Get a proper diagram. I have seen some where the Plug uses different colors than the truck or different than even other plugs use!

Josh

Nothing funnier than turning on the left signal and having all the running lights flash on the trailer!

I would do that but the wires were cut off flush at the connection the factory made under the bed at the main harness. The wires from the main harnesss to the plug are still intact. The wires from the plug down to the plug at the hitch are ruined.

I want the part that plugs into the main harness under the bed.

Then if I have to I will wire a new plug to it.
