I got up early this morning to get my CTD's emissions tested, only to find that it failed in all three snap tests. My comp was on 1x1 and I don't think turning it off would make that much difference. I had been noticing more white smoke lately, but no loss in power, so I don't want to believe that it's the VP44. I have even been running Amsoil Fuel Additive concentrate, and am now on my third can. They scanned the code P0238 "MAP sensor voltage too high," so I'm hoping that is the problem. In the end, a $60 emissions test will end up costing almost three times that amount. Can't say that I'm happy right now.

If my understanding of the Comp's function (Comp on 1x1 = Edge EZ) is correct, I would unplug (or shut the timing and fueling completely off, if possible) the Comp and retest. On my truck, unplugging the EZ cuts smoke (opacity) to practically nothing with the DD2's. Instead of the heavy fueling "hit" in the low to midrange that the EZ gives, running with the data link cable unplugged (the MAP cables remain plugged in to make the EZ function as a boost fooler) gives a powerband very much like the stock truck, just more BHP across the board from the larger injectors.

With the EZ's CANbus connector plugged up, I can get a lot of off-boost smoke - with it unplugged, I can't really make it smoke that much even trying.

If you want to drop your emmissions, install a TAG (Turbo Air Guide). Your emmissions will drop. This has been proven out here in Oregon with the DEQ up here. I conducted the test on my truck with an Edge Comp with and with out the TAG installed and with and without the Edge Comp being turned on.

Mine passed just fine with in the last month or so down here in the Denver area. Actually it was well within the limits.

That's the thing I don't get, you're even more modified than I am and I'm the one that failed the test. What's the deal?

Just for grins on the way home (17 miles, 4 lane divided road with several stop lights and of course construction) from work I turned my Comp off and tried everything I could think of to get her to smoke. Could not do it.

Before the TAG I could get some smoke if I lugged it and then floored it, not now.

I would try the TAG, love mine!, PERFECT match for the Scotty II.
