fan belt

Just bought my first diesel truck . 1999 5. 9L ctd , 4x4 , club cab .

upon closer inspection of the engine i discovered that the belt is in dire need of replacement , what i need is help in the following.



1) can some one recommend a good belt and price



2) how difficult is it to change , never worked on an engine this size before , if anyone knows of links to a site which describes/shows how it is done i would appreciate it

Get the Goodyear "GATOR"

it stops the squeak on shutdown and has a lifetime warranty if the vehicle is under 8800# gross. (if I recall correctly) If this info is wrong, someone will correct it. Had over 60k on the one in Drifty and was still good when it went to the bone docs.



Price isnt that bad and you can find it on line at some of the parts houses.

Goodyear gator. There not that $$ you can get them from Genos right to your door or most parts stores have them. Do a search on hear and you will find the part # don't know it right now and you will also find how to do it. Its not hard.

Got mine at NAPA. I think it's a Gates belt if I remember right. It still "chirps", but I kinda like it.
