Tabbed My Dow Pin Today. When I Was Cleaning Everything Up And Putting It Back Together I Noticed 3 Fan Blades Were Cracked. Don't Know How It Happened. Anybody Know Where I Can Get A Good Fan From? Thanks

Kenny

I have heard of this happening. I would think NAPA should have one.

dogginhogs,

Where do you live? My fan is only on for 5 months a year. I take it off in September and put it back on in May. Hands down one of the best mods I have done. Engine noise is cut by 30%, faster warm-ups, improved throttle response, idle speed increases by ½ a needle width, mileage improves a solid 1-2 MPG so I don't see the winter fuel blend mileage decrease. This will be about my 10th year fanless during the cooler months. Highest I have ever got the temp up to is about 220° during bumper-to-bumper traffic.

I Live In Florida. I Don't Think I Can Keep Mine Off That Long, But I Will Try It To See What Happens. How Do You Like The South Bend. I'm Trying To Make Up My Mind On A Clutch. Stock Clutch Right Know And It Will Walk Right Through 3rd, 4th, 5th If I Really Stab It. So I Really Can't Use All My Power.

I'd pull the fan, the blades do come off and can go through a hood. I have a seasonal fan and when I tried to get a clutch a few years ago Dodge wouldn't sell the clutch without an upgraded fan with it.

Another fan source is the seller redlinar on eBay.

My cousins '97 cracked a blade or two. Before we could get it changed it threw one, breaking the shroud and scaring the radiator. I got one from the dealer for him.

Consider yourself lucky. My fan lost a blade and took out the rad in the process. It's happened to a few members. Here's a link to my post from few years back when it happened to me.

The new fan had a raised ridge stamped around the perimeter of each blade about 1/2" in from the edge. The ridge stiffens the blade and should prevent cracking. Not exactly sure where I bought it but I think it was a parts source or some other parts supplier, bottom line is make sure your new fan has the different blades on it.

Go buy a lottery ticket,

Mike
