fan clutch ??

I just purchased an '03 auto. It seems that the fan clutch locks up every time the engine comes down to an idle. Most of the time it stays locked through the 3rd shift at least. I had a '03 6 speed and it seems it never locked up unless towing heavy and the water temp got a little warm. I swung by the dealership and of course it is not covered under my remaining Cummins warranty. Any advise, or is this normal? Thanks

Doesn't sound normal, you could un plug the electrical connector that goes to it (lower passenger corner fan shroud) if it then unlocks I would suspect you have a input fault rather than a bad clutch.



You will trip a check engine lamp starting the truck with the connector un plugged.

i have an 03 and my clutch does the same thing. but mine does not have the electrical connector. some one told me since mine was built 09/02 it could have came with a manual cluth fan, is this correct?
