Is there any way to check the Fan Clutch to see if it is operating properly? I do the radiator clean every year but I suspect that the Fan Clutch is not operating properly. I don't hear it momentarily like I used to when I start the truck and run it a few blocks.

In MY experience the clutch will lock, and the truck will not warm, and the belt will "chirp" on shut down. To check it, with the truck cold (and shut down!) try to spin the fan (it should be easy). Then after driving and reaching operating temp (180-190 degrees) shut down and try to spin the fan again, if the clutch is working properly, it should be tough to spin it.

Again, this is from MY experience and thoughts on how the stock fan works, you should consult a service manual. (I would check mine but I don't have it here at school)

If its overheating, thats one way to tell. If its cool going down the road, but getting hot at a traffic light or traffic jams the fan isnt engaging. I would suspect the fan clutch. To be honest though its rare I have had heard the fan clutch going bad.
