I can turn my fan up to any level and it makes a lot of noise like it wants to do something, but I feel very little out of the vents. Is that just because it's a mega cab and it's got the extra vents going to the back seat? Is there a filter element for the air to the fan, that needs to be cleaned? Or is the fan just needing to be replaced?

Doesn't matter heat or a/c it still doesn't come out very much. I really really hate tearing into dashboards.

I would be surprised all the little stuff that's not working after you don't drive the truck for a while then get back into. Start nitpicking everything that apparently I never noticed before.

Sounds like a broken blend door. When mine broke barely any air came out of the dash vents, after the repair it was a dramatic improvement in airflow.

Had the same problem. I think there is a write up on here somewhere. I went to the dealer (this happens often and they had 3 in stock) and got a new redesigned housing, supposedly they fixed the problem. I think it was around 30 dollars. I managed to get the old one out and the new one in, but it was not fun at all

sorry, not any help on the R&I... My truck had less that 15000 miles on it when it failed, dealership did the repair. Only bad part was that it broke in Arkansas while we were on a summer vacation. We actually waited until late in the evening to start our trip back to Texas!

If the A/C is broke, the TRUCK is broke!!!!

Just had my 04. 5 repaired for the exact cause you described, fresh air vent door failed. Was quoted $1000. 00 repair two months ago. I waited because I have the ability as well as the equipment to repair myself. I repaired my 94 Ram evaporator myself which also required the dash removal. Seeing how it was winter and it could wait, I took the 04. 5 to the dealer for routine maintenance and due to lack of work at the dealer, I was quoted $550. 00 because the tech needed work and gave me a break.

I know I can do the work myself, but I get free oil changes for as long as I own my trucks and time is money and at the lesser price it was a no-brainer. The only thing I was ****** about was the fact I complained two years ago about the smell of diesel exhaust when climbing grades and was told the 3rd gen trucks are designed to allow a small percentage of fresh air for air quality. It turned out not to be true and that the door was starting to fail was the cause. If you have the better of the two Dodge extended warranties and this condition exists, demand repair. The fresh air excuse worked for me because I'm an HVAC contractor and fresh air is a requirement for commercial applications and few years ago the EPA (Communists) even strengthened the law.

Ya out of the 1000 dollars it's probably 970 labor tearing everything off. I really hate dashboards. I've torn most of mine out to do wireing with gauges and sirius. Every bolt I seen, I removed, and by the end of the day I only needed to take out like six.

I think I will go buy the new part, maybe get a quote and save it for a very very boring weekend sometime.

A heads up... ... ... ... it is not a blend door but the recirc door ;)

The blend door blends hot and cold air to your desired temp.

sounds like the same problem that i am having. I have left it on defrost for 4 months now. Now the fan is not working or onlty working when it wants to work. Does not matter where I have the control knob at, it will or will not work. Sometimes if it is in the OFF position, it still blows softly. Any ideas? TIA, Scott
