Diesel Truck Nats @ E-Town

For RyanB

I have a short fan mount on my 91. 5 Cummins and need the one like is found on the 94 to 98 motors. Anyone have one available. By the way my short one is available for anyone running into their radiator during the swap. Thinking out loud a bit I think a wanted and for sale section in this section of the forum would be a good idea. There are many parts that are required in a Cummins conversion that may not get noticed in the other for sale section.

Cummins / Diesel Conversions

I just paid $270. 00 for a bearing hub from cummins . i was told there

is two types the inter cooled and non intercooler type ,what is this

short hub one ??? , the other i heard was just ofset to one side

I bought an 02 cooling pulley that dont work ,if any one has an gen 1 pulley they want to swap or sell ,give me a message thanks

Here is how I understand it

1st gen intercooled have the short fan assembly. The longer one that goes out over the timing case is found on 2nd gen 12 valve and ealry non-intercooled trucks.

Does any body have photos of them ? so im guessing then the gen 2 engies just hang lower? What is the part# for each one ?

There has been quite a bit of discussion on this in the last 6 months or so. I actually have one of each and I tried to fit the short style on my engine but because I have a Fluidamper (balancer) the fan was actually pulled into the balancer! I had no other choice but to run the 2nd Gen style! If I could have ran the short style it would have pulled the fan 3/4" further back which would have been a good thing!

The 1st Gen style (short one) off-sets the fan different than the 2nd Gen so it can cause problems for a fan shroud or can help out... actually I have heard from a very realiable resource that the short one is the ideal one... just didn't work for my conversion!

If you or anyone you know gets the magazine Diesel Power... there was a writeup and pictures in it showing the difference!

Good luck with the project! RyanB

yes the short ''1st gen'' fan hub is closer to pass side of the motor and actually centers the fan in the vehical with the schroud that is origanaly in the truck. mine is a 80's chevy truck

I get Diesel Power mag ,Which issue ?

On the fan hub i get asked " is it a intercooled ,or non intercooled" engine

I think i got the 92 style, but im un shure ,i do know the 02 pulley is a

no fit situation on it but on the engine it apears to si center and dont

hang over the timing cover

Fan Drive info

My 1'st gen (92) uses Cummins option FA9093, is discribed as: mounted vertical on engine center line, 240mm (9. 6") above the crank shaft center line. The 94 parts book list the fan drive option as: Fa9072, Offset from vertical centerline 49mm to the fuel pump side and 203mm (8. 128") above the crank shaft center line.

FWIW

Here is a pic of my wife's 4BTA with the fan drive used on a 92 Dodge CTD. Notice the shadow where the orginal fan was mounted. The shodow is where the 94 and up fan is located on the 6B and is standard on most 4B's from the bread trucks. See second photo for a pic is the orginal 4B fan drive. Altho it dosen't have the same fan attachment points it is in the same location as the 94 and up Dodge 6B's.

the one i got looks like the new one on your 4B so i guess i got a 92 one

the 94 is rather diffrent ,it kinda has a down leg like a"Q" to it

i wish i didnt get burned on the pulley ,oh well , any body need an 94 and up fan pulley ,i got one from an 02
