i am in the middle of tabbing my kdp. i am to the point where i need to remove the fan. its late and the tool places are closed. i cant get the rh nut loose. i have a big cresent wrench but it wont clear. all i have to hold the pulley is an open end small filter wrench. anyone know a trick to getting this damn nut off. triied a hammer and a large screwdriver but it wont budge.

any suggestions will help. thanks :{

The best way I have found for the stubborn ones involves an air hammer with a punch, but in a pinch a hammer and a punching device will work on the edge of one of the nuts flat areas. You need to place the punch on the edge closest to the end of the nut and strike it with the hammer hard. Also remembe the nut is reverse thread righty loosy, lefty tighty. Good luck.

I've been successfull with a large pair of channel locks. Also I've used a small propane torch to warm up the nut and it helps break it loose alot easier.

Hope this helps and good luck.

This may not help in the immediate future but I also cut a wrench out of some steel to do the job in the future. It helps alot. If you have some 1/2" steel and a torch you could probably cut one out in not too much time.

Good luck

Steve

A 2 foot piece of 1/2" rebar or steel rod placed on the edge of the fan nut and tapped with a BFH will usually work. Remember it's reverse thread.
