Has anyone went ahead and gotten a Horton Clutch fan so that the coolant temps don't go down too far when towing? ... When I tow up a hill, my Viscous fan comes on like normal , then I top the hill or rise, but instead of cutting off like at 190, it keeps pulling the air til the engine coolant is like 160 or so, then the engine temp rises to normal op. ... .

Would the horton be better for that as it reads coolant temps rather than temps coming into the radiator?

If the above is so, where would be the best place to get one?

Thanks

I think the Horton was a great improvement for the older Dodge's, don't know about the newer ones. My '04. 5 doesn't move off 190 degrees pulling our 5ver (30' Holiday Rambler-Alumalite). Might want to get that checked out.

I thought that Horton no longer made fan systems for our trucks?. When they did I priced the system and it was over $1,000. 00. :--)

Believe that Horton quit supplying the Dodge trucks after 2000. I may be wrong here.

Had a Horton on my old "93" CTD and it ran all the time when hot. The noise used to drive my Wife crazy.

This 14. 5's viscous fan does good hauling our 5vr. in the mountains Seems as good or better than the old Horton. Ended up taking the Horton off the old truck because of the excessive noise. Possibly in Utah in the winter, the Horton fan would have been better and in cold temperatures they were great.

jwduke, I travel with a guy who's got an 04 and pulls a 30' 5th wheel and his temp never moves off 190 either. Mine, a 97, is all over the place.
