I have a 04. 5 I noticed wires that ran through the fan shroud then in front of the fan to the center of the fan. There's five wires in this loom. It has been sliced open and the orange wire is bare. What I want to know is just what this is for. My guess is it's a device for controlling fan roar. Some of the wires must be for fan clutch engagement and disengagement and the others for measuring fan rpms. If this part has a problem will it through a code? It all seems to be working fine right now. It looks like it was installed wrong to begin with the metal bracket that holds the wires is a little mangled. It has a tit on it that goes into a hole for proper alinement. The bracket is mangled from being tightened down without being properly alined. The fan is also hitting the metal bracket that holds the wires in place. There is a metal tab for holding the bracket away from the fan, thats bent also. It looks like someone had a hard time putting this on or was in a hurry. This whole set up looks generic. I just bought this truck used with 24000 miles on it. Do you guys know if this would be a warranted item or should I take care of it myself?

It should be a warranty item if the 3 year warranty is not up. If the wiring was done by who knows who then the dealership might not honor the warranty.
