i have a funny noise when my truck is cold , sounds like the centrifugal clutch on the fan. it only does it when its cold and continues to make the sound until truck heats to operating temp.



stopped by the dealer today to let them see it, it was not making the noise by the time i got there, but showed them what i thought is was. they looked up the fan bearing assy and the part number changed two times since my truck and engine were made. (june of 2003) so they ordered one.



anybody have this replaced yet. with two part number changes i would think that there has been a problem.

Very early 2003 trucks were the subject of a recall (or was it a TSB?) for a loose fan clutch from the factory. Solution was to just tighten it down.



Part numbers may have changed due to changes in engine cooling demand with increased horsepower/torque for 2004 and beyond.

think i should take it in, looks like a pretty simple repair. maybe i should wait to see if it fails first or at least gets worse.

Take that thing in. You don't want the fan coming loose and "flying" around your engine compartment!
