It's been 8 years since I bought my last truck. And it was so easy. :) I spotted it on a lot, checked it out, got the insider price, wrote a check and drove away. Now 217,000 miles(it came with 111,000) later I've decided that I must have a TDC.

BUT GEEZ, I've been spending 2-hours a day for over a week now searching NATIONWIDE for a Hummin Doggie:--)

So here's the deal. I've found one or two trucks:D, but they're far away. I need somebuddy to go give 'em a looksee.

I'll certainly do it for you folks. I can spot bodywork repairs from 10 paces. I have pretty solid mechanical knowledge (comes from keeping a Ford alive for 328,000 miles-original engine/transmission).

So here's the deal. If'n you need a skeptical eye put on a truck here in Middle TN, I'll go do it. ;)

Ya'll ready to go look at the trucks I've dredged up?

:) :) :)

Texas

One is in Greenville, TX and the other is in the 956 area code TX.

I'm going to call on them today for more info.

email me @wade@heartoftn(dot)net (anti-spam)

BTW I'm going to drive an 01 2500 Q-cab 5-speed today. It's green and out of my price range, but I've never actually seen a 5-speed 3/4-2WD. So I'm going to check it out. Asking price is 19. 5 if anybody is interested.

Call Guptons

If you haven't already been to Gupton's in Springfield you should give them a call. They are a volume dealer and have the best prices in middle TN by far. I went to almost every dealer in TN. and Southern KY when I bought my 2000 and they were the cheapest by far. The # is 615-384-2886 ask for Mitchel Nance ( I think that is the right name) . He really went out of his way to sell me my truck.

Hope this helps,

Kevin

Anybody near Greenville, TX?

Okay, one of the TX trucks is sold. The one in Greenville is still on the lot. It's at Greenville Chrysler. I don't have a stock number, but it is '97 Driftwood, ext cab, 5-spd, 2WD. Photo shows Brushgard, step, and bed rails.

Thanks for any assistance in sizing it up. I'm mostly interested in General Condition, and signs of Crash Damage Repair--no matter how well done. Ya'll know the drill.

I called the guy at Springfield and he says that a Green 96 may come in on trade. Hope that pans out--it's 500 miles closer.

The 01 Quad I went to drive had been sold, but they had a really slick standard cab in BLACK-01, 27K miles, 5-spd, reciever hitch, fifth wheel ball, some body work done, but I didn't get under the hood or drive it. I will if somebody wants it.

any more resources?

I went through 474 Yahoo "2500" ads today to come up with 4 trucks--and still don't know if they are 5-speeds:confused:

When are the dealers going to learn that the internet is about INFORMATION?

Some of those ads didn't even specify the engine, but I'm pretty fluent in VIN now!

The task wears on. :p

Trucks Unlimited didn't have it.
