For those of you who plan to use the farm bureau rebate be aware that you must contact the farm bureau and get a certificate and certification number prior to purchasing the truck. I learned the hard way. When I went to go pick up my new truck and asked for the rebate the dealer needed this certification. We were able to work it out and I picked up my truck but it did cause a snag. If you got a new truck coming and plan to use this rebate, plan ahead.

Also you must have been a member for 30 days or so. Or at least thats what they told me.

Last fall when I was planning to get a new truck I signed up with the Wash. state Farm Bureau. I ended up getting a used truck. But then in March when I picked up my new 2001 I totally forgot about my rebate. I remembered the next week and called the dealership, and they were good about honoring it even though they said normally customers need to present the Bureau card during the transaction. I had a good salesman. It took about 2 months to get the check from D/C but even with a long wait it was worth the $500.

In Washington you need to be a member at least 30 days before purchasing a vehicle to be eligible for the rebate. Costs only $15 here #ad

When does this rebate program run out? I think I remember hearing something about the end of August, but can't remember. Can any of y'all confirm this?

I just called my local FB and they said the Texas FB deal with dodge is good for five more years. Their number is 817-596-0110.

<font color=blue>When I bought my truck in March of 2000 I put $6000 down, but when I looked over the papers and noticed it said I put $7000 down, $500 was from the deposit I put down when I ordered it and the other $500 was from the FB discount. I had no idea what that was and thought it was odd because I have been recieving Farm Berau mail now and was wondering where the heck it was coming from #ad

I thought it was aweful nice of my dealer to sign me up #ad
Still kicking myself for buying the extended warrenty tho, I could have used that $1400 for something else on the truck.

Eric:

Cancel your warranty. It should be pro-rated and since you haven't had your truck long, you should receive the bulk of it back.

I used to examine claims for an insurance company that underwrote the extended warranties.

If you guys are going to use the Farm Bureau rebate I encourge you to continue to support the FB for more than just a year. For those of you who don't know it the American farmer is having a very rough time, mainly due to foregn competition thanks to NAFTA. The FB has lobbyists in Wash DC to help protect the American farmer from unfair dumping and other practices which are ruining this great countrys' agricultural base. Please support the Farm Bureau.
Thanks Bill

I am not a farmer, but I very much agree with Bill. You can do this by checking out their insurance - I have truck, car and house insurance through them. They also have deals set-up down here with tire places and bunches of others that I can't remember for FB members to get discounts.

I run sheep and some cattle for (of all things) stockdog training and trialing. Here in Maryland, taxes are so high that the income from a good year might put you ahead of the govt, but the market is fickle. Last year, had a drought. Corn crop so poor statewide that any sold for a fortune. Some made more money from that than they will this year (perfect, corn 12 feet tall) with a good crop. Developers have about 70% of all land locked up between Annapolis, Baltimore, VA and Frederick.

Our Farm Bureau needs a lesson in customer service, but they try. It's good to support farming when the government looses sight of one of its primary purposes, price controls, to sell out to higher tax income from business and development. A bit short sighted when you look at it long term...

Sorry to ramble. Also, can't use Farm Bureau discount on top of school graduate discount.

Stockman, can you give proof of this deal with the school graduate? The TXFB website said that the rebate was good on top of any other offer. I was really counting on this. That would be $900 instead of just $500 for the FB rebate.

I received a "Dodge Truck Farm Bureau bonus Certificate". This was good for purchase or lease of a truck from 8/1/99 through 7/31/00.

In #4 of the 11 part fine print on the back reads: "This certificate is not valid when combined with the DaimlerChrysler Corp. Employee/Retiree New Vehicle Purchase/Lease Program, CDI New Vehicle Purchase Program, Dodge On the Job Commercial Bonus Certificate, COLLEGE GRAD PROGRAM, dealership employee purchase program or any other printed certificate program. "

Of course, this ended 7/31/00, and may have changed. It also may vary state-to-state, though the cert doesn't mention this. This is a lot more confusing than what it needs to be, frankly, but I think it meant that I could not take advantage of the rebate.
