I've heard so much about the Farm Bureau on many posts but it didn't become important until I got ready to buy a new truck. How does one join?

You just sign up for insurance with them. You will also have to pay a $35 a year membership fee. I think that price is right anyway my wife writes the check.

You are not required to have their insurance in order to be a member.

On the other hand if you have their insurance you do have to be a member of the Farm Bureau.

I've been a member of farm bureau for many years. I have always had the best rates, and received red carpet service. Not to mention $500 off the price of my new Ram. They are a great company.

I posted a long item concerning Farm Bureau -- what it is, how it works and how to join -- about six months ago. Search on my name and you'll find it. Costs vary from location to location, even in the same state.

I use my Farm Bureau to get dealer pricing on Amsoil stuff without having to pay the Amsoil membership fee. It's $15/year in Washington State for FB membership. You get other discounts such as car rentals, Men's Wearhouse, Grainger, etc. too.

Crabjoe, when you call Amsoil to order tell them you are a member and give them your account number. That's how I did my last order and had no problems. When you sign up for FB they send you the Amsoil information with their packet.

As posted above, no need to get insurance through them to get the FB discount. I simply joined my local bureau over the phone with a credit card, and got my packet in the mail... . Spending $35 to get $500 back was a no brainer!

I apparently put the cart before the horse and ordered a new 04 with 6 speed and HO engine from Dave Smith Motors. In doing some checking I learned one must be a member of the Farm Bureau 30 days before being eligible for the $500 discount coupon. I did get the DC $1000 rebate and a $500 dollar in house rebate from Dave Smith Motors, both taken off dealer invoice.

You have to find the Farm Bureau for your state, they are different for each state. I tried a google search for "Hawaii Farm Bureau" and found mine.
