Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Lift pump mod advice?

Hey guys. Thanks for taking the time to look at my question.

I have a FASS 95 pump only in my truck for about 2 years now and recently is sounding different when I start the truck. During the "wait to start" it sounds like it got weaker.

Are there any parts in this pump that wear out and need to be replaced?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

I have the HPFP 95 in my 02 & it doesn't run during The Wait To Start. When I turn on the ignition my pump only runs 1-2 sec just like it did with factory pump. What is your fuel pressure. If your pump sounds weaker it could be lower voltage due to grid heaters being on but I don't think it is suppose to run with just the key on then only when it starts.

Hi Jack,

Your right it only comes on for a second or two. Fuel pressure is 15, it is just sounding different.

Was not sure if there were brushes or something in the pump that need to be replaced.

Could be my hearing is off.

Thanks for your time.

John

I know with you living in Morgan Gulch maybe your grid heaters don't come on as much but as you guys have been having some cold nights & they may cycle more. I know when I lived in Livermore my grid heaters did not cycle hardly at all but I kept my truck in a attached garage.
