Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) FASS and lift pump

Hi All,



So I think the stock lift pump finally took a dump (~82K miles). If I were to install a FASS system, does the defective lift pump need to be replaced, do I remove it, or does it just hang there and do nothing?



Since the fuel pressure shows zero, and since I don't know where to get a FASS today, I may be running down to the part store and buying a replacement pump for now anyway. Maybe I'll put the FASS in later. So confused.

It will just hang there doing nothing. I got my FASS from http://www.dieselpp.com/ Took about a week to get it to my door, and 4 hours tops to install by myself taking my time.

The FASS completely replaces the factory lift pump. If you were to buy a new factory pump today, you will be bypassing it when you install the FASS.

After installation of a FASS you can remove the factory LP just not all of the mounting hardware. You can leave or remove the OEM FF, although I left mine for heating the fuel in the winter.

From what I've seen, the FASS mounts somewhere on the frame by the fuel tank. So when you say remove the factory LP, is it replaced with a tube or something? If the LP is left in but it's not working, is there a path straight through that is not restrictive? I think once I put the FASS in I may look at running straight tubing all the way up to the water separator.

Yes the FASS mounts under the drivers side in front of the rear wheel well. And the output of the FASS by direction goes strait to the VP bypassing the OEM LP and FF/water separator, if you have the complete system and not just the pump only.



Some people leave the OEM LP and FF in place all thought they are not needed with the FASS complete system.
