Hi guys, im considering installing a ddrp fass pump with frame mount, my truck is a 2001, and i noticed the fuel line under the truck is not rubber all the way back, when you guys do frame mounts whether airdog, fass etc. do you cut into the metal line, or do you mount foward where line is still rubber?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

On a long bed truck there is room back near the tank to mount the pump up out of the way and that is preferred. On my truck I cut the metal line with a tubing cutter back near the tank and it worked well. Some guys remove all the metal and just run hose from the tank to the filter, which allows you a bit more latitude in the placement of the pump. I used hydraulic compression fittings on the steel line and so far no leaks. Don't use the hardware store type, find a hydraulic supply and get the good ones made of steel. I have pictures on this thread.

If you get a relocation kit, it will have the bracket, lines and fittings. This way the stock line does not have to be messed with. It's not any better, just faster and easier.

EForbe,

I just installed the FASS DDRP with relo kit from vulcan. I cut the factory quick disconnect off the factory hose and attached it to the hose supplied by the vulcan kit. I capped off the tank end of the fuel line and routed the vulcan hose up tot the FASS pump mounted just forward of the tank, then ran the hose the rest of the way up to the filter using the fittings provided by the vulcan kit. Install went flawlessly. I now have 15. 2psi at idle and full throttle of 10. 2 psi.

Thanks for your input, im from Manteca ,ca, and im looking foward to doin this mod, hope you dont mind a few questions if i get stuck, ha. Thx a bunch. Eric

Thanks, i ordered the big fuel line from filter to injection pump from you yesterday, and i cant wait to install, already have fuel guage, and your fitting has 1/8 inch tap ready for me in one fitting, i will save up a bit and get the DDRP from you soon.
Thx for all the help. Eric

I ran new fuel line from the tank to the VP44, had to drop the tank to make the tank connection, but I got rid of ALL OEM lines and banjos.

Mounted the DDRP on the frame rail.

I ran 3/8" "rubber" line from the tank to the DDRP and then 1/2" line from the pump to the filter and on to the VP44. I dropped the tank for removal of the old hard line and routing of the new line. I did have to buy the fitting that hooks to the tank as an extra upgrade, BUT the rest of it came in the big line pusher kit from Vulcan, I just requested extra fuel line. The guys at Vulcan are very helpful and can pretty much fix you up with everything you need.

I actually did this mod over time, first with the relocate kit (using OEM Carter pump) and big line kit AND then recently changing the bracket and the pump to the DDRP ones.

When I did the DDRP upgrade, I had to replace the hose from the pump (frame rail location) to the filter as that needs to be about 4" longer than with the OEM Carter pump, sometimes cutting everything to exact length comes back to bite you.

I couldn't get any bio compatible hose locally when I discovered my old hose was too short, so I will actually upgrade that hose again when I get a chance, I already ordered a length of the Parker hose Vulcan sells and am just waiting for weather and a good time now.

There are pictures of my installation in this thread:
