Hey everyone,

Looking for some input on premature fass pump failures, any others out there. I only have 50,800 miles on my truck. I installed the Fass pump only (HPFP) back by the tank. I have only 13,000 miles on the pump  . I installed the -08 fuel pick up, -08 with in line filter to the pump, -06 to the factory filter and the -06 from filter to the injection pump. I noticed a problem when I would accelerate thru the gears at a normal rate and my fuel pressure would drop to 5 psi. At idle I used to see 16-17 psi and I could accelerate hard and never drop below 10 psi. All fuel filters were changed as soon as I noticed the drop in fuel pressure. Sam.

First pump had external brushes, that failed in one year. No warranty, this pump cost me $400. 00, and has been on about 90,000 miles. My business uses electric pumps that pump liquid 24/7, we have some over ten years old still running. However they can't make a motor last a tenth of that time.

I had an external brush setup too. It lasted a few years. Then I went over to the lifetime unit. No problems.

I have heard of this problem before though.

I installed a return line at the injection pump. I can regulate IP feed pressure with a ball valve. It maintains 12 psi on -8 line. No problems.

My external brush FASS has been working fine for about 6 years now. Noisy, but dead reliable. Of course, now that I say that it'll fail tomorrow--that's usually how things work, right? :D

Is the fass pump installed correctly? Is the drain hole on the pump facing down. I have heard of people installing the pump upside down causing premature failure. Just an idea.
