Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) FASS fuel system is it worth the $$$$

With the FASS fuel system, do you still keep your stock LP hooked up as normal? If you do, does the FASS FUEL pump and filter system kick on when your your engine mount LP goes out or works harder? i MEAN FOR THE MONEY WHAT DOES THIS TING do for you? :--)

Its worth every penny. It gives a constant 18 - 20 psi, even at WOT. Thats all I care about. I dont remember how many miles were on my rig when I put it in but Id guess ive got 80k to 100K on my Fass. Im very happy with it. Its chaper than the 2 lift pumps I put in and the vp44 they almost cost me.

I just got a 24V and was thinking the same thing. I was for some reason under the assumption you kept thw stock L/P and canister filter. I have a leaky banjo bolt/line between the tow and if this is the way every one is running the FASS I'm gonna order on right now instead of fixing the leak between the 2... I would assume it come w/ every thing needed?

I have heard many positive comments on the FASS system. I know that there were issues with early designs and not as many with the newer design. I have several friends that have them two of whom have had failure issues and didn't receive very fair customer support on the product.



I am not attempting to bash FASS - once the issues my friends had were corrected they are once again happy with the system's performance. However, the sour taste of their failure (one of which was towing his travel trailer w/family on vacation - OOC on side of the PA Tpk. for hours) has caused them to comment to me "if I had to do it over again, I'd look for a different system".



Those comments led me to be patient and look for an alternative product.



In all fairness to any product I suggest doing your homework on all that's available. Shop the systems, call the supplier/manufacturer, search the forums here and elsewhere (as you are doing here). Then make the decision that best suits your needs / that you feel comfortable with. Remember, you are "investing" in the range of $500 +/- depending on what you are looking to accomplish - ultimately correcting a poor design by mother Dodge.



Lastly - I, and several other folks I know, have had great success with the Glacier - Walbro pump - systems. See link in my signature "GFS-392 fuel system" as an option. I can say first hand, Rich @ Glacier is very, very, customer oriented, goes above and beyond to help design a system that fits your needs. And, he's there when you call - if not he actually responds (most times same day :--) ) to voice messages.



The systems Glacier offers are not cheap, nor inexpensive, however, they are less (and IMHO better) than some that are out their boasting excellence. Additionally, something to consider, if you are the type that wear a belt and suspenders (hate to be caught with your pants down - side of the road no fuel psi) a spare Walbro can be had for approximately $100. 00 and takes about 10 - 15 (real time) minutes to change out.

It did everything they advertised in my truck... mileage increased, top end increased (I think I was running out of fuel), and obviously better filtration (1 micron filters are available (HF6604's)...



While I will also agree that there are several other alternative systems out there, I have nothing bad to say about my FASS...

I'd do mine over again. I don't trust my VP44 to some wanna be stuff. 6 year warranty sounds like it's well worth the extra money. The FASS is a very good system.

I plumbed my FASS so it feeds into the stock fuel filter canister, mostly because I already had a new fuel filter for it and when it comes to fuel cleaner is better. The FASS system is not perfect but it seems to me like it is a very very small percentage of people who have a problem with them and overall they have a very good reputation considering the number of them on the road.

I love my FASS just like all of these guys. Some of the older motors had issues but the new brushless motors are supposed to last for quite a long time. Mine has a year under its belt now and still operates wonderfully. A friend of mine did have an older one and had an issue with the motor, however the vendor he purchased his from Rip Rook, had a new motor to him in very short order. As far as customer service is concerned just go through a vendor that you trust. There are lots of good ones out there, and they will get you taken care of on the customer support end.
