Fass fuel system

I see that Fass is offering a sump, for the lower side of the tank. My question is, is anybody running this or is it needed. I am contemplating replacing the fuel pump on my 2004.5 with one of these, as my truck is 11 years old & is sill on the original pump.

I'd love to have a sump - but I'm afraid to just rip it off when Off-road Driving.
For road driving only it's a perfect solution, you can empty your tank down to 2%. Without sump and only a draw straw you're forced to let at least 10% fuel inside to not run dry uphill/downhill.

I don't think that is a good idea, with fuel cooling your entire fuel system. I never go below 1/2 tank before fill up. Still on my original injector pump on my '01 @ 250k.

Sumps are just a bad idea on any HPCR systems, all the crud is in the bottom of the tank and that goes right thru the system. Without extensive filtration and fill care it is not even worth the hassle of doing, plus, it ruins the tank for good.

Offroading aside, just road debris are a danger to the sump connection. A new cannister with larger suction lines in the stock location is a more effective solution for the FASS.

cerberusiam, that was my thoughts on the sump.... and in a 11 year old fuel tank, there has to be a lot of garbage.

2% that's pretty low, that's like not even 3/4 of a gallon.

I think I'm going to stick with the standard way of pulling fuel out of the tank.
