Turbo questions, about ordering a Dodgezilla?

Which oil for the dana 80?

Charles

Thank you for the information and perhaps you can further educate us about the Fuel Preporator®.

How much amperage does the Fuel Preportor draw and how "easily" is it to change the factory pressure setting of 10 psi?

Additionally, what type of warranty is provided with the Fuel Preporator?

Joe

Wade,

I have seen the FASS standard and extreme range in price from $550. 00 (FASS standard) to $700. 00 (FASS extreme). I believe both come with a two-year warranty but, I do not know the specifics of this warranty.

I too would like to see some data for both systems and not just DYNO numbers.

If anyone has questions or comments, please feel free...

OK, you asked for it... . Now, I am kind of confused, forgive me as it happens often... ... . You, Preporator, are the inventor of the Fuel Preporator? Correct? You, are now sueing Brad, the developer of the FASS system? Correct?

The Fuel Preporator may be a little more expensive but remember, the sweet taste of a cheap price is soon replaced by the lasting bitterness of poor quality.

So, you are saying the FASS system wont last, as we pay for what we get? Correct? Now I know nothing about litigation but..... I am trying to get a grasp of what is actually happening here... ...

Fuel Preporator is ISO-9001 Quality Manufactured and approved for sale and use in California by CARB Executive order G-02-003.

To me the ISO_9001 Certification means nothing as that is exactly what Firestone had a few years back , I'm sure we all remember that... ... ... .

I don't mean to come down on you Preporator, but, it seems to me that your making it sound like the FASS system is yours, you want to clear the air, so to speak, but yet your pushing your own product. Now I am all for you if something was stolen from you and then they are making money on your idea/product. I would hope the courts make it right with you , but, I think you need to explain your litigation a little more clearly as so the rest of us can understand what is going on.

Is it OK now to buy the FASS, would they go out of business because of this "Court action", or are you trying to drum up business here, PLEASE, explain to us what is going on. Thanks Don

Flame suit on :)

Sounds like a fued to say the least between the FASS and the FUEL PREPORATOR. My regards to Mr. Eckstam if there are patent infringement issues. I would like to know some facts though. We know the price for the FASS but what about the PREPORATOR? Someone said the FASS had a 2 year warranty what about the PREPORATOR. They both sound like great systems but some more info would be helpful.

Prep Price

I paid 799. 00 for the Prep unit and also ordered two additional 2 micron filters with it at an additional cost.

Sorry I was in Rhode Island at my daughter's Ice Hockey Tournament and couldn't respond to that question.

From where I installed the FP135A Unit (behind the rear diff) I had plenty of wire in the "loom" harness to reach the hood area.

I did make a change on the supplied light... . I had to soldier extensions to the supplied wires to run into the cab and I purchased a led light instead and mounted it in my A pillar. I like the smaller led light.

Answering someone else's question... to increase or decrease the pressure output was very simple. You take off the return line at the unit and adjust the spring tension. Very simple.

I made my fuel return to the tank to the large return tube at the filler neck. Not a great idea as I now have to have the truck off to fill up or it will spit fuel back at me. I will make that change when I get a chance.

I sent Mr. Ekstam an email and asked him to answer questions here. I know nothing about the FASS, the techicals of his system, or the difference between the two systems and felt that stuff like that could be better answered by him.

I too would like to see some dyno testing between the two systems.

Well I'm a BOMBER...

... and all that don't mean squat to me if I can't see a HP advantage.

For 600 bucks I can put three LP's in the toolbox and cover the cost of my fuel line upgrade. I mean that's set of injectors or half a turbo or an exhaust manifold for heaven's sake.

What makes that electric pump so special?--the INTERNALS, not what it's packaged in--and all the xtra features.

And where's the purported power?

dyno dyno dyno

I don't doubt for one minute that it's a very well-made product. I just want more to go on than claims and speculation and warranty. I can get enough of that on infomercials. :p

If both systems perform the same duty or the FASS System does it better as Brad implies than I can attest to the fact that it should be awesome!

When I installed my Preporator System my truck LIKED IT Oo.

I could clearly feel a gain in power and responsiveness was a real nice addition.

I'm off to the dyno this week and we will see where it got me but unfortionately I don't have a good base line to compare it to as I have been doing alot of tuning on my twins since my last dyno run.

I can say this from the time I shut it down and installed it to the time I ran it again (plus 20 miles or so) it was VERY noticable.

I reiterate if the FASS does the same... . GREAT! If it does it better and adds more AWESOME! I love this Preporator unit.

PERHAPS WADE SHOULD GET A DONATED FASS and A donated Preporator to dyno both???? KEEP THE WINNER???

WHADDYA SAY FASS??? WHADDYA SAY PREPORATOR???

:)

Should be an interesting read...

Brad,

I look forward to reading the article as I obviously "buy into" the whole entrained air removal subject.

I would have to agree that it is not a good idea to "give products (plural) away but felt that it was a great promotion and a way to create a huge following upon success with TDR subscribers. In essence if your product is indeed the best you would be giving away only one product but gaining so much moreand if it wasn't the best... . well you would get it back

;)

Even still in a scenario where the Preporator delivered, say, 20 hp and your product delivered 19 and was of good quality that would be reported and "value" would become an issue for many of us.

ie. Good quality and only 1 hp less for 100 or so dollars less... NO BRAINER! Right?

I need a job in MARKETING

Was a fun challenge anyways... ... .

ENJOY

James

PS. I have no affiliation with FASS or Preporator and am merely a customer of Preporator and subscriber on TDR. I chose the Preporator system as what I felt was my best choice and my sole interest is in seeing a comparison between these two products.

Besides Wade would get a new fuel system :D

stock LP no way

Well like the service manager at the dealer where I bought my truck said when I told him about my Lp failure @ 19,000 mi "We replace a Lp pump once a week" ALL this complaining a whining all over this site about the stock Lp that is a piece of junk, well it sounds like the FASS system is the fix. Heres the way I look at it

1. I could have bougt a d- max.

2. I could just run the Lp and fix it in the middle of the road while on vacation.

3. I could spend the time and money moving the stock junk back by the tank. oh and another 125. 00$$ for an extra Lp cause its going to go out no matter where its at.

So to move the lp and have an extra lp under the seat- 125. 00$ + say Mayby 20. 00$ to 125. 00$$ (prob 125$$ for AN fittings and hose to do it right,, 50 $$ for better banjos- this equals about 190$ to 300$$ ( to have stock junk). The FASS sys is 549. 00$ I ordered mine today.

Hello James,

I believe competition is good, it benefits the consumer along with the manufactures, it keeps the manufactures sharp! We have given units away when we see a good opportunity. You will be reading about those opportunities soon. Also please do not miss understand me, if we ever meet I'll shake your hand as we are friends. Buying a competitors product shouldn't alienate people. (Even though I'll ask you to buy ours next time haha!)

Brad Ekstam

Geesh Brad I hope so as I havent taken any pokes at your product or you. For me to say that the FASS System is a POS without ever even having any experience with it would not be fair.

In all actuality I would hope that you and your dad could work things out and offer a complete product line together while offering us a competitive price and an array of options to suit.

For example an inexpensive unit that simply replaces the lift pump and filtration system and another that removes entrained air and has all the bells and whistles. As you can clearly see from this site some care about the air issue and others just want a reliable lift pump alternative...

I was told that your system does not properly remove the air and have also seen from your writing that it not only removes the air/vapor but "improves the quality of air/vapor removal"

Personally I would love to see an independant "side by side comparison" and dyno test.

If I, in fact, paid too much for the same thing then that's alright I have done that on many occasions and probably always will to some degree or another, but I would love to see if that is the case here.

Even still, if your product is a little less quality or performance for a lot less money, that isn't a bad thing... and if it is the Cat's Meow for alot less... . than that is indeed a great value... AGREE?

James

To obtain the level of performance that the diesel engine was designed to deliver, you need a fuel filtration and delivery system that not only removes water and particulates, but also removes entrained air and maintains the necessary pressure flow to adequately meet the needs of the system preventing fuel pump cavitation.

The above is a quote.

I don't know how to remove the air or vapor, but if I have a good pump at the tank will that help with the pressure of fuel flow?

I think that would also help prevent the lift pump cavitations.

I'm getting ready to install PE4200 that will give me plenty of fuel and pressure flow.

A gain of almost 50 hp ( on a powerstroke) is almost too good to be true. Not that I don't believe it, it is just amazing that removing air from fuel would produce those kind of results. It is like putting an EZ on your truck with no side effects. I can't wait to get some dyno results from the Cummins crowd. My lift pump is a little on the weak side after 70+ k miles so instead of another Carter I might have to spring for the FASS and pick up more HP to boot! Keep the information flowing.
