I installed a FASS II (150gph)on my truck this morning. It was a fairly simple process, I think the kit DPP provides is very good. The wiring harness really surprised me. I was contemplating building my own once i received it though I thought their's was very well built.
I have a QC long bed and I still had plenty of hose and PLENTY of harness left. I mounted in the "normal" position behind the fuel door. I was able to get the fuse AND the relay up into the fuse area under the hood. This is an area on my truck that sees very little moisture and overall is a safe place. Those push on fittings are a real bear, if it were up to me I wouldn't use them.
One more thing, I've never, EVER... had such an easy time priming my system. This pump is great at doing that. I moved my tee beneath my filter to get the fuel pressure for my gauge. I did this because of the issues I was having at the VP44. I see about 19 psi at idle and cruises about 18 psi. I pulled it down to 16 or so, but have yet to hook onto a load and take a hill down with it. I hit the starter 2 times and let the pump run for about 30 seconds each time. I saw such good pressure, and it "sounded" primed. I decided to fire it off and hope for the best. It started right up and never missed a beat. Keep in mind I drained out my VP44 and drained my filter bowl to change the fitting at the base of it. I run -8 AN from the filter to the VP44. Previously I had run -8 from the stock LP, so I just yanked that off and stuck with the 3/8" provided. I have a HRVP44 and I've noticed it seems to be running a little smoother at idle.
I had my doubts about this pump for a long time, but that's changed now. I think for the money it's an excellent investment. I also and fabbing up a wonderful steel case to slip over this pump to protect it from the elements. I'll post up photos when that is down. I've got some fabbing to do!
