Started the truck after leaving work yesterday, ready to depart the garage and noticed the FP gauge at zero. Shut it down. Cycled the key several times, no FASS humm, FP gauge still at zero. Get out, briefly check the connections - look OK. Reattempt start, no FP.

Decided to leave the truck in the garage at work and have my wife come get me (yeah, she was real happy).

The obvious question is what now. Can I drive the truck home (20 min highway from work) without doing damage to the CP3? How should I approach the pump problem?

Any input is appreciated. Really don't want to have the truck towed unless necessary. However, hard to do any significant diagnostic or repair work in a 5 story parking garage.

Thanks,

- Jason

if you have the stuff for your stock in tank pump handy you can hook that up until you figure out what is going on wih the fass pump.

i would check the fuses also.

Did you try tapping the pump motor?

Mine did this over the winter on the real cold mornings so I suspect some electrical short somewhere in the system.

I haven't tapped the motor yet. I will try that this afternoon. I have one of the earlier 'brushed' pumps, wonder if the brushes are spent.

Thanks for the advice,

- Jason

Why wouldn't you just take a test light to the power wire to the pump before starting out on a chase?

AH!

You mean, sorta like making sure there's fuel in the tank when the engine stalls along the road, instead of just tearing the engine apart to find the problem? :-laf :-laf

Some folks are just too logical! :-laf
