2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission FASS Instalation

Going to install a Fass pump only on my truck & I am wondering how many had trouble with the Quick Disconnect Fitting on the top of the fuel tank. Did you have to lower the fuel tank a little or was it pretty much straight forward? Looks like it will be easier to take the wheel of so I can get my fat butt in there. Thanks in advance, any other suggestions would help.

It is pretty straight forward. The only thing I had problems with was disconnecting the clip. I had to use a couple of pocket screwdrivers. Having the wheel off does help a little too.

I lifted the front of the bed a foot and half to get good access. Try not to break the plastic stuff if possible. Use a thread sealer (I cant beleive they didnt include teflon tape) on fittings as they WILL leak if only slightly. Other than that, directions were pretty good.

I had a ***** of a time with the clip... ... ... I could get one side really easy, but the other (toward the front) was a real pain.

After a hour or so, I tried some parallel pliers and got it off... ...

I did it with bed & tank in place. Hand thobbed for hours.

Same as already said. I left the bed, the wheel and tank all in place. The clips were just a major pain. Took me about 45 min to work it loose and when it came un-clipped it literaly fell off... Just be carefull no to break the plastic.

On my 3rd gen I had to remove the existing blue plastic clip. It was hard to get off. I had to cut it off.

Take 8 bolts out and 2 guys can remove the bed. It makes life alot easier when doing your install... ...

I've got those 5th wheel hitch rails installed in my bed, would make it a lot tougher. .

It isn't that difficult to do especially if you don't have the wheel well liners, then you can sit in the well even with the tire on and see what you are doing. Getting the stock tube off is the tough part. After that it is only a matter of pushing the new one on until it clicks.

When I did mine, I wrapped ziptie's around the clips and pulled them tight. The lines came off real easy. I have a long bed, so I was able to squeeze up between the frame and the side of the bed. I'm not sure how well that would work on a short bed. Maybe thru the wheel well?
