Oil Sample vs. Air Cleaner

Hello to all,

So I have got this cycle my truck is on and would perfer it not be. When I installed my FASS I first used teflon tape on all the connection and was good for a month or two then started dripping :{ so I pulled the pump back out and did teflon tape and pipe dope, made it another few months and started getting the drip again :( . I would perfer to not have to remove the pump 6 times a year, all though I can do it at nascar speed by now.

SO what did you guys have good luck with to keep the drip from coming back or even starting?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Tyler

Never had real good luck with teflon tape on fuel line fittings. I always use a paste and have had very few rpoblems.

permatex #2 compound maybe? permatex ultra copper silicone works ok too [seems to work better if you let the silicone cure on the fitting before you install it, or just some blue loctite maybe?

Swagelok makes some great stuff called swak. I use it in the oil and gas fields, and have yet to have a leak with it. It isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for...

It's funny, I swear by Swagelok products but have had bad luck with Swak! I clean my connections with plenty of acetone, and knead the Swak really well, but it just doesn't seem to work for me. I think I'm cursed. I must be doing something wrong.

I've had pretty good luck using a combination of Teflon tape and Block.

Hmm...

Locktite also makes a good sealer. I can't think of the name right now.

Permatex form-a-gasket? The black sticky stuff... never had a leak after using it...

I used an industrial "Blue Block" on mine and have yet to have a leak, but I may never get the fittings out again either...

I believe blue block was the one I used a couple times also. The other was some type of white paste I got at a hydraulic shop. I have had really good results with both on the #2 fittings. The white paste comes apart easy, the blue block however is hard to get broke loose after it sets up, but works really good.

The white paste wouldn't be PST would it? Sweet smelling stuff??

Rectorseal T-Plus2 Has some teflon in it Great stuff!!

Available at pro plumbing shops, contractor supplies,

Blue block is the messiest stuff I ever used, got it on every uniform I own:(

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

I went to grab a tube of PST today but after napa , checker and parts+ not having it I ended up with some permatex high temp thread sealant. Supposedly good for vibration and extreme pressure. I guess will see how it holds up to diesel fuel, time will tell.
