Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fass or Airdog

My next door neighbor's dog is very noisy.

Not as noisy as my earlier Fass,they have fixed most of the noise problems now/new improved design etc,but Airdog seemed to get it right the first time. NO WAR OR FLAME INTENDED:-{},but out of curiosity has any member have an Airdog fail or any problems?----just want to know/what to look out for. ---DW

Mine is same if not as loud as stock pump. No problems here out of mine.

My AirDog has been on for 2 years, no problems, 15 psi at idle, no lower than 12 psi at WOT, and very quiet compared to my factory lift pump.

I work in the PUMP industry transferring liquids. I've been involved in this business for many years and have worked on every device ever conceived for transferring liquids in a closed pressurized system. (Not human heart medical stuff) The AirDog is a damn good pump system on a great platform.

Been very happy with my Fass 95GPH pump. Only bought the pump, installed it myself, took about 1. 5 hours. Can't drop supply pressure below 14 psi.

Sure am glad I have a fuel pressure guage because the walbro/glacier system is so quiet you need the guage to verify its operating, and Richard answers his phone.

The FP 80, (or PF 100, same model) is the smallest unit, it was brought out for pickups. The next step up was intended for OTR trucks, but some folks are running them on pickups. There are, or were at one time, several different models available, but now at least 2.

told I could use fleetguard or comparable filters and AIrdog I could not.

FASS is running great after 7K miles. 15PSI and never moves.

Fleetguard makes the stratapore filters for the airdog. You can get them through any Cummins/Fleetguard dealer, but most don't keep them in stock. If you're willing to order a case of 12, price is about 9. 00 each for 3 micron.

Fleetguard----#FF5617(10micron),#FF5613(3-5micron),#FF5587(7micron),this is what was given to me by another TDR member a few years back. I run the #FF5613 all year long and change it once a year regardless of how far or little i drive in that year---mostly only drive about 5-6000 miles with the truck in one year. Hope these #"s help. Fass is really popular so much I have had 3. They suck, I am meticulous about keeping the truck i have up. I have some power in the 550 hp range and the pump just doesnt like to come on without a ban with an F'in hammer. They are not helpful at all, even thought they have 1800 dollars of my money. This is not an unusual case either, do youir research and go with a Holley blue, relocated fitration, and a regulator. The blue looking competitor is made by a family member of the Fass manu. and probably sucks too. Since its all about getting your money, in an Accessory driven aftermarket. Why would they care of customer relations or product quality. They sure do convince you that the Fass is a great product, cause it looks GREAT comin out of the box, But If I have to tighten the God Damn brushes one more Friggin time, I am ripping the pump off the truck, melting it down and Casting a golf ball, then going to the ocean and 3 wood driving into the abyss where it should have gone straight from The UPS guy.

Sound like I am mad a little, yes I am, I dont like top be butt raped for $600 a pop.

Point is your going to have to BUILD your own so you know what is wrong if it goes bad, then you also know how to reapir it, because after all aftermarket parts make you, " Your Own Warranty Station", sound familiar.

Now I think this is the most honest and educated post here, Thanks and I hope this rant helps. Screw FASS. If they had Balls like men they would send me a free FIXED unit. I stand fully behind all the work I do why wont they, Making too much dough may be the reason, too time spending that money on Campers and LCD TVs i guess Huh?

I’m sorry... ... i don’t recall every receiving a call from you or your dealer about your problems..... Kinda hard to get an issue taken care of if you don’t give us a chance to make it right... .



If you look back in my post history, i went over how to PROPERLY clean the brushes so you don’t have to keep retightening them. We also have a motor update campaign. BUT if you filled out your wnty cards and sent them in on your units, we might be able to handle these issues under wnty. What’s the SN's? Ill look them up... ...

I was kind of wondering about the 1800 dollar thing. . Because of brushes?

I had one of the original units with the brush caps and ended up trading it out for the newer sealed style motor. Havent had any problem at all with the motor. The only thing is it is kind of loud but sure pumps the fuel. . Both motors ran without a hiccup so I dont know. . Not saying one is better than the other just think the FASS is a pretty beefy unit and Im sure the Airdog is as well since they are similar products.

I buy the filter at NAPA, theyre built for hydraulic use around 28 bucks and Ive run them 40k miles without a problem. 10 micron.
