Now that FASS has the quite motors on their system's I'm stuck between the FASS and the Walbro. With the filters and all the bells and whistles on the Walbro kit, both kits come out to about the same price. I just wanted to see what ya'lls opinions were. Thanks in advance

I have the same question and I have decided to with the GDP set up just for the fact that the optional filter combo can be mounted almost anywhere on the truck vs under the bed. I do not like the idea of mounting an expensive pump etc down where road salt, dirt, rocks, etc can get at it. I will mount my filters in the bed box out of harms way and under a dry fiberglass cap. This is just my opinion, I am sure others will disagree, each to their own so to speak.

It says it's 3, but I'm sure you can get the 2 micron for it and it would work... I may be wrong, but I'm thinking it's probably the same body.

CHolman,

FASS if for no other reason it removes air from the fuel that the Walbro can't.

Mark @ DPPI
Have there been problems with Air in the fuel/line with the Walbro? Looking for actual data.

I cant say that there has been any problems with air and any brand of pump only set up, but I do know that air in diesel fuel in our systems can cause damage

That is the kit I'm looking at as well. Down the road I'll add the univeral remote mount 2mic filter kit. I won't buy a FASS just based on the whole son/dad feud b. s. Airdog/FASS nonsense.

i can say this i had a 95 gph FASS that held 17 psi with my setup then i went with a 150 gph FASS and it will only hold 10 psi. i have a walbro sitting on the tool box waiting for me to install. The 150 pump is abnoxious loud. both pumps were stand alone units.

The link is to the install manual. It says you drill a 15/16 hole next to where the in tank pump comes out and install another pick up tube. The return goes back in the fill hose thorugh some supplied special piece of fill hose. But no, it does not look like you take the in tank pump out and leave it out. You put it back in (it looks like the assembly has something to do with the fuel gauge) and it looks like you can unplug the GDP pump and plug the in tank pump back in if the GDP pump fails. But I am just going by the pictures, I don't have one and have never seen one.

That's one of the selling points for the GDS Walbro. You leave the stock pump alone and just disconnect the electrical connection and reconnect it to the Walbro. If the walbro fails you can just reconnect the stock pump and off you go. It's in the directions if you read them on the Glacier site. I don't have one yet :)

FASS has the same feature, except you dont have to get under the truck, just switch fuel lines at the CP3, pop in the relay and go. ;)

and actually, if you went a bought a check valve and a drilled banjo bolt, you wouldn't have to touch any fuel lines, even with the FASS. Also, with both systems, you could just install a relay with a switch in-cab, so that if one pump fails, you just hit the switch and don't have to get your hands dirty...

I'm just sayin' :)
