I'll attach some photo's of FASS - here is the unit - look carefully and you'll see a 12 guage 3" magnum. This unit is pretty heavy - maybe 15 lbs - and of extreme HD build.
 
Where it's mounted

One mounts it ahead of the driver's side rear spring - up in the mody panel. You drill the body mount and there is a 90 degree bracket that you mount it to. This is where you drill the two holes.

This is the latest attempt to put the lift pump problems to rest. It is a system that replaces the factory lift pump and fuel filter, with a high flow pump filter combo that sits down by the tank. It has several benefits.

It really looks Heavy Duty,I'm interested in adding one to my truck soon. Do you draw fuel from the stock port on top off the tank, or do you have to drill into the tank and pull from the bottom.

The only problem I can see with its location with out a debris shield, is blowing a tire or throwing something into the lines / filter off the road.

A quick connect

to the fuel tank. I haven't attached it yet - but I'm told that you simply remove the original line and the kit has a quick connect fitting that you simply push over the inlet tube. The setup sets behind the fender liner.
 
If you use a Fleetguard FS1022, you'll get the drain and also a WIF sensor that screws in the bottom. Its the same sensor thats on the Dodge canister. ISC's use the FS1022 as a single filter/water seperator. It would probably work on this too.



Does this have WIF? I didn't see or read about it. Plus you can get the FS1022 at Napa... called the Napa Gold 3422 I think... but it is a Fleetguard with Napa Paint. Its got the "stratapore inside" logo on it and Napa techline said the blueprint shows its made by Fleetguard. Just a thought. ;)
 
Is this the recomended location? and by who? I was thinking if I was to do it I would put it inside frame rail and infront of tank, is there room for alternative location ie extra hose? Just curious, hopefully this is the end all liftpump fix for us 24vers.

Locating inside the frame in front of the tank would surely hang the filters way too low. At least from what I've seen and done. I find that a typical plain filter head with a 6" element will protrude down past the frame even if you put it up against the bottom of the cab. This thing looks pretty long. A skid shield would help as would having a taller 4x4. On a 2WD I dont like having filters hanging too low.



I wonder if full wheel well liners would help. Surely they would. Or some kind of mud flap up under the fender.



The FASS unit looks nice. I'd really like to see it be the one.
 
It doesn't

Under the cab yes - but it's under the bed - right up against it - that's about 6" higher than under the cab. I'll show you a better photo when I finish mine tomorrow.

Check your latest TDR Issue 41 - Aug-Oct - page 101. FYI I went over to Cummins NW and I was told by the Shop Foreman that Yes Indeed the lift pump is a problem and they see quit a few on buses, HD trucks, motorhomes etc. They even have a name for it's failure - it's called the Combo Pack - wherin the lift pump fails and indeed does the VP44 in. That costs about $2500. This is a weakness not only on our trucks, but apparently elsewhere. This is why I wanted to be sure to try and fix this. This product is unbelievable HD. It's used on HD Trucks, minimng equipment and lots of stuff. Looks a sthough this will solve the problem. Now I just have to get it installed. I'm going to post some pictures of the fuel tank - to see how I attach the fuel line.

How do I get it off. I'm attaching a photo of the top of the tank - as best as I can do - I didn't drop the tank.



Look at this photo - which one is the out - i. e. to the fuel filter & Motor? Is it the one on the right - or left?
 
ive never screwed with the fuel system on my dodge, but i would imagine its like everything else. smaller line at the tank is the return.

The install looks to be a good candidate for removing the bed and then doing the install. :( That would probably be the best way. Big job though. ;)
 
The larger or right line is out. There are two small "buttons" or tangs that you squeeze together and it just pulls straight off. These fittings are o-ring sealed internally. Caution however... I had my bed off the truck when I removed mine and it was tougher than nails. The other one removed with extreem ease but for some reason my supply line wouldn't. Depressing both buttons fully didn't help. After some careful wiggling I finally got it. Do not force it off. If its right it will slide right off with ease. Otherwise its hanging up somehow.
 
The trick to removing the line is to first push the line firmly on the fitting with one hand, then depress the two tabs with your other hand, and pull straight back. It is easier with the bed off, or "up" LOL, but it's not to hard to remove while the bed is in place, theres plenty of room, of course, a body-lift does help, LOL. Good luck.
