Driving home last night my fuel pressure drops to zero and then goes negative. I have a new VP44HR on order so I don't sweat the VP damage and keep driving home.

I get home and whip out the multi meter - check the relay for operation and it's good, pull the relay and check the contacts are working ok, check that power is getting to the fuse and it is. Check the fuse and it's good too.

Hit the FASS pump with a hammer and it sprang to life, 17psi, and has been working fine since.

Sometimes the simple fix is the one that works. :-laf

stuck brushes, if it has them. Are there rebuild parts available for the FASS motor? how many miles on the pump?

Yep, stuck brushes. Good news is, you can purchase replacement brushes from just about any vendor that sells the FASS. I know Rip, Source Automotive, has them, as I purchased replacement when I bought the FASS.

I have about 20K on the pump, I'll get new brushes - looks like you can change them without taking the unit out of the truck.

I've the FASS II and a couple of months ago, I received an upgrade of the plastic caps covering the brushes along with a new brush. Did the swap out, new caps have larger cover and o-ring, with the FASS still in place. The two additional brushes I got from Rip were somewhere around $5. The ol hammer trick is good for starters as well, just ask my brother, lol.

I purchased a FASS II pump as a spare for when my OE pump starts to fail. When I heard about the newer brush caps with O ring seals & contacted DPP about getting the up grade. They told me to send it back. The replacement they sent has no brush caps at all. There must be several variations on the FASS theme here.
