look down and both fuel pressuer gauge are 0 psi

this is not good

turned the truck off and bumped the starter and the fuel pressure came back

my god is my vp 44 going to dye

This can happen if the fuel runs to the front of the tank and you start sucking air up into the FASS. This happens on mine when the tank gets below 1/4 tank and I stop hard facing down hill.

See if the pressure comes back a few seconds after you stop.

Usually the FASS pumps are pretty good (few failures), but anything can happen. You should be able to hear the FASS if it is running. It does have a definite different sound when it is pumping fuel vs. when it is not.

A quick loss of fuel pressure will not kill the VP44, it takes prolonged starvation to damage the internals, so I would not worry about it.

It is a standard relay, any autoparts store should have them. Get two, one for the truck and one for your glovebox to keep as a spare. Would suck to die on the road and have to get a tow, for a relay that costs a couple of bucks.

If this just happened, I doubt it. Check for codes, if you have a 0236, 1688, 1689, then maybe. If not, then you are fine. For the cost of a new pump, just drive it until it quits (or becomes undrivable).

is there a vp44 death about to happen in my truck?

the tank was full

I used some wd-40 to dry out the relay it seems ok now but i will pick up a relay or two just to keep in the truck as you never know:)

I think the relay got wet as it happend after we washed the engine

we unpluged and gave it a shot of wd-40 now it seems ok where can i get a back up relay to keep in the glove box

When my fuel gage starting acting erratic I did a lot of work before I found that the ground wire was loose at the connection. Just a thought, made me feel pretty stupid.

I have got to put this out there

after a shot of wd-40 we have not had a bit trouble from the fass relay

I THINK WE GOT WATER IN IT AND THE WD-40 TOOK CARE OF THAT:D
