Hi, I have a 2004 RAM with a FASS system installed 3 years ago. I had filters changed almost two years ago and wanted to do it myself this time. I followed all instructions and asked questions but now have a problem. After replacing the filters, I bumped the starter a few times and the pump would not load up. I could not get anything with the fuel filter cracked, but when I cracked the separator the pump changed tune, but more like cavitation and then sounded like it was OK. With the filters tightened, I started the engine and it ran, but only for about a minute then quit. I'm concerned that I have air throughout the system. I took the filter cover off at the engine and no fuel was in the canister (I'm not sure that there should be since the FASS system was installed). All I get out of the pump is cavitation. It is worse with I crack the FASS fuel filter, but seems to help when I crack the separator. I need the rig early tomorrow AM. Thanks!

Did you fill the new separator with diesel before installing it? The separator needs to be filled with diesel before installing it, per my Airdog instructions.

YES - all filters / canisters were refilled with fuel. The cavitation is like an oscilation that started like a loud scream (assumed no fuel in pump) and then after cracking the separator I get the cavitation. I crack the separator because it is the only thing I can do to get the pump to do anything.

Are you sure it is turning in the right direction? Check the rotation. Could be backward from the manufacturer.

OK then, I stand corrected. It is an oscillation sound (varying in pitch cycling over maybe a second of time) that is not necessarily "just" sucking air. Additionally, inside the tank I hear (and can see) some activity and spray that is almost exiting the fuel filler tube with a 3/4 full tank with the pump running (a "gargling" sound)...but oscillating as well. Difficult to explain. I could record it on my cell phone.

Thanks p-Bar and hcole, On the pump direction - this is a three year old installation. On the priming the pump itself, well just how is that performed?
