JSams, did you use an isolator to install your FP gauge? (i'd assume so) if you did, your lack of pressure could be nothing shy of air bubbles in the isolator line... it's the biggest PITA, but you've got to get ALL the air out of the line, top off the line with anti-freeze, AND fill the back of the FP gauge with anti-freeze too so there is NO air in the line...

try that. BUT, you won't go wrong with the FASS either... it's a great product!

a little off topic

It makes sense that you need to shut off the truck when fueling fast because most of us are now using the vent line as a return. (no choice because the tank does not have any extra fittings) The perperator guy needs to lighten up. I'll gladly take my saved$ and the FASS over the Perp deal. Strictly financial. I bought the Fass to cure my lift pump problems no other reason. Don't care about air or whatever these guys are arguing about. A side benefit has been my fuel gauge no longer gets stuck on Full after a fill up. Not sure if this is because I know shut my truck down when I fill up or because of the Fass returning fuel through the vent but It sure is a huge side benefit!

Mine is not loud either.

In fact, its hard to hear it running with the "dinger" audibles going from under the dash when you first turn the key on. I had to open the door and lean down towards the rear of the truck to listen for the pump when I was first checking it out.

Dont think noise will be a problem.

Quieter than the OEM pump was on mine.

Thanks for the replies re: noise from the FASS. Sounds like I'm fine with mounting it directly to the frame.

Truck is a '98 with 24 valve (mfg. in June '98).

No isolator on the gauge I used and I think I got all of the air out of the line. Some pressure before starting (8#?), but almost 0 when running. At least it did have enough power to bleed out the system after installing the gauge.

So there she sits until the FASS is in place. I'm not even going to start it again.

Thanks for the tips on the isolator for when I get some proper gauges!

FASS installed! No noise problem at all. Very pleased!

Alright! Congrats. . Didnt want to steer you wrong on the noise, but mine sure wasnt loud like some have indicated.

I was concerned about water on rainy days, so ended up covering the brush caps w/ rtv silicone, and added sealer to the wiring harness where it connects to the motor as well.

Had to drive in the rain tonight, and no problems.

Thinking about how to make a shield for it though.

FASS enclosure

I made an aluminum box that fits under the UTE bed, on the pilot side. It matches the one on the copilot side that contains the 3 Optima bluetops. I had the covers powdercoated silvervein.

The FASS is mounted (rubber shock mounts) to the 3" x 1/4" angle I used to mount the bed to the factory mounts.

Before I added the shock mounts, I was getting a LOT of pump noise transferred thru the frame.

A local hydraulic shop fabricated stainless hoses for me.

I'm adding a Racor inline fuel heater(300 watt) between the tank and FASS. The fuel heater is for peace of mind, as I haven't had any problems so far. Several weeks ago I started the truck after sitting in -32F at the gunshow at Wasilla high school for 12 hours.

I used the factory lift pump bracket to mount the T for the fuel pressure sender. I have Dakota Digital gauges and for me they are far superior to any others. They are easier to see under all conditions than the others, especially the SPA.
