I recently installed the FASS and think its great. I do have two small problems and was wondering if any other users had similar expieriences or comments to help solve mine. First. Fuel return from FASS is tee'd into vent line resulting in slight leak. I am having difficulty deciding exactly where the leak is but am thinking it is at hose clamp to plastic vent fitting on tank. I am going to replace old hose as it had a "set" to it and I think this is the culprit. Advice to others USE NEW 3/4 HOSE FOR VET/RETURN LINE. Cheap insurance.

The filters stick down below the truck a couple of inches and are visible. Not a critical problem but I was wondering if anyone had a solution. I always worry about stupid stuff like someone taking a fuel filter and leaving me high and dry. Not worried about road damage as the unit is built like a tank.

One benefit no one speaks about. This unit is real easy to "prime" even with no fuel in the VP ( It drained while installing the new fitting) I just filled the filters and cranked her over two or three times)

I have been reading all the stuff about HP and what not. Let's just say install the system because you don't want anymore liftpump problems. any other benefits are iceing on the cake. :p

I just custom made a bracket for mine and you can't see anything. I wanted it that way so when I'm plowing snow it won't get hit as easy. I did not have any problems with leaks I guess just check all your connections again, But remember do not try to leave the truck running while you fill the tank, makes for a mess:rolleyes:

I am having the same leak issue at the vent T fitting. Tighten it and will wait and see. I am impressed with the system. Can'nt wait to tow.

Fass Leak

When you guys cut the line for the "T" did you cut the same amount out of the 3/4" line or did you just cut line and install "T"? if you didnt remove some hose the width of the "T" your putting stress on the plastic fitting at the tank and it WILL leak.

Just my personal observance from a couple install's

Summit sells battery boxes with bolt on sides. Seems to me a small size one of those could be drafted to enclose the FASS allowing access to it by removing the bolt on side and attaching another side to the frame. It would give good protection from all earthly hazards.

FASS location

I installed the Fass sys about 3 weeks ago on my 02 with 20,000 mi due to the stock Lp failing. I took a piece out of the vent tube the same size as the T. I also put the T as close to the tank as I could, no leaks. The bottom of my filters are at or a little higher than the bottom of my frame, (my truck is long bed) . All I know is the truck seems to idle smoother, and with out ANY dought at ALL I HAVE MORE BOOST SHOWING ON THE GUAGE and NO fuel pressure fluctuation... ... ...

I also made the cut allowing for the Tee, I think I caused my trouble by flipping the hose around. The part now fastened to the plastic tube was on the metal fuel fill fitting (stupid I know) Either way I think it would be wise for future installers to simply purchase $2. 00 worth of "fresh" 3/4 hose. ;)

My first project in the new garage is going to be fabricating a new bracket with a cover for the Fass. :)

I finally got to stretch my legs on the highway last night. I don't care what anyone says this thing is more fun to drive than ever. (I love watching the guy in the Mustang GT looking dazed as he grabs for a lower gear when I roll by him in the fast lane. (Yeah he still catches me but not by much)

I made a HD Aluminum Box and bolted her to the Cab Support Bracket. I have to unbolt to change filters - but only takes a minute.

i also had a leaking issue but i never did anything about it. I did cut the hose when i installed the T and removed the amount needed. maybe i should look to see if it is still leaking. I could never tell where it was leaking except from somewhere on top of the tank. i thought that it was just the old fuel line but i will look tomorrow.

I removed enough line so that the same angles could be maintained without any kinks in the line. No leaks (after I tightened the clamps with my hex socket).

Also, I have had mine on for about 2 mths and yesterday was the 1st time I let the truck get down to about 3-4 gallons left in the tank. After taking off quickly from a stop or slowing to a stop quickly, I noticed my fuel pressure guage dropping rather quickly to as low as 5 psi and bouncing back up to 16. It scared the he!! out of me. FLASH BACKS of the factory system. I filled up and all was fine. I guess that the fuel sloshes more than I thought.

ALUMINUM BOX

HAMMERSLEY

The aluminum box you made is great.

I'am not talented enough to make one.

Is this something you might be interested in making and selling?

Guys we just got my truck running today after I spent my kids college education money on my HABIT. I noticed after we got it fired up and run for a few minutes the pressure showed about 10-10. 5 lbs. I heard there was a way to "turn up" the pressure but the install instructions do not say how. Anyone know? I could not take the truck out as we did not have enough time to heat up motor and retorque head tonight. I will be driving tomorrow but gotta watch the boost for a little while with 2 new turbos.

It has something to do with the spring on the return to the tank from the pump, either a stronger spring or something like that

Got truck head warmed up and retorqued head to insure seating Fire ring head gasket. Got 11lbs at idle and got 8 at WOT. Still working on the turbos so 1st hour it was 44 lbs boost max. Next hour it was 55 max. Still working on throttle trans kick down cable adjustment and my silicon boots came today. I will call FASS tommorrow to check on pressure.

Well guys, looks like I've got a leak developing somewhere around the top of my tank also.

Have had the FASS on for about a week now, and had a very slight drip, was hoping it was the original fuel lines emptying out, but now its bad, about 1 drop every 3 seconds, it might be time to replace the 3/4 vent hose.

Since it only drips while the truck is running, I dont think it would be the suction hose. Seems like it must be a return line.

Just a little leary that I might have hurt a fitting on top, because I spent about 2 hours trying to remove that darn OEM quick disconnect, and know that I stressed the fitting some. Hope it didnt crack .
