Blown your Blumenthals NV4500 lately???

The Fuel Preporator, the first and only true air/fuel separation and delivery system, invented by Charles L. Ekstam, was initially for the Class 8 truck market. The original design was patented applied for in 1992 and issued in 1994. The first production model, was put on the market in 1994. The product went through a period of improvements (debugging) from 1994 throughl 1998. The second patent issued in 1998, protects the original commercial version. The Inventor entered into a business relationship (a letter of intent to do a patent license that never materialized) with a group in St. Louis (Diesel Products Inc. ) and retired. The product remained as it was except for several unauthorized changes made by the St. Louis group. A large number of issues developed that caused the Inventor to terminate the relationship with the St. Louis Group on September 9, 2002. During the period of July 1998 through September 2002 Brad Ekstam worked for or was an agent for Diesel Products, Inc. , the St. Louis group. A web site owned by Brad Ekstam appeared on the internet proclaiming "Fuel Preporator by Diesel Products Company of Villa Ridge, Missouri". During a state court action Brad admitted the claim of "Fuel Preporator by Diesel Performance Products Co. " was not true. During the March, 2003, Mid America Truck Show in Louisville, KY. the first showing (to my knowledge) of the FASS appeared in a Diesel Performance Products booth . The Fass was later admitted in the same Missouri State Court by Brad Ekstam to have been designed by "altering the blue prints to the Fuel Preporator" NOTE: These blue prints were of the old style Fuel Preporator! Additionally, the FASS has 17 identical and interchangable parts common to the old style Fuel Preporator.

The following press release has been issued concerning the FASS:

Customers, potential customers, distributors, potential distributors, dealers and potential dealers of the Fuel Preporator have inquired about FPI's actions to protect its intellectual property. On February 17, 2004 FPI and Charles L. Ekstam filed complaint in Federal Court in St. Louis Missouri charging Brad Ekstam and Diesel Performance Products, Inc. with patent infringement. The suit alleges that the manufacture, use and sale of certain products, including the FASS model 150, infringe U. S. Patent No. 5,355,860 and seeks an injunction from further manufacture, use and sale of such products as well as damages. A copy of the complaint is available on request.

I hope this may answer your questions.

Thanks for your time!

Charles L. Ekstam

We've read a lot about FASS here from many satisfied customers. Where can we find more info about the "Preporator"? I understand they are similar in design and function but how do they compare in availability, price, kit's for Dodges, etc. ? I'm looking for a link to this info to benifit us all but a pm to me would suffice. :) Thanks.

I have the FASS system installed for the past 3 months. Good pressure-16-17lbs and as highly modified as my truck is I only pull pressure down to 15 at WOT. Regardless of the lawsuits flying back and forth the FASS system is less expensive and comes complete ready to bolt in our trucks. It should hold up well but time will tell. :D

I know the Preporator came out first as I remember seeing ads for it years ago. The FASS system is kind of new.

Are the two Ekstams related or is that just coincidence?

We will have 2 preporator trucks dynoed in April here in So Cal. one truck will be a stock 02 Ho with the exception of a staight pipe set-up the other is an 01 Ho with EZ,275's and 4" exhaust, before and after numbers will be posted.

Why so long for the dyno runs ? Its not that hard to install the preporator and find a dyno is it ? Does it even matter?

Personally I will buy the Fass system- For more constant pressure.

If I want more hp for my 03, I will buy a higher hp module or bigger injectors and a bigger turbo - THAT IS WHERE REAL HP GAINS ARE MADE - not a tag and not a fuel pump. Because when it comes down to it that is all a fass or a perporator ARE. J. M. O.

But what good are high hp boxes and big injectors if you can't get the fuel to the CP3?

No Coincidence, father and son, involved in a heated court battle. Do a bit of search around here, there is hours of reading about it and the associated arguments.

Radram-

There is far more to this than just slapping it on and finding a Dyno, particularly in the case of current Preporator systems that we have been sent for evaluations. Even the FASS system takes more than an hour, and most find it takes at least two. Fuel lines must be added and changed, and in order to properly install the system, we felt that it wou simply not be feasible to do same day before and after runs.

If you're referring to the fact that we've had these systems for a bit (close to a month to be exact), keep in mind, that I don't live and breath trucks. I have a wife, kids, work fifty plus hours per week, volunteer a good deal of time to helping others when I can, and on top of that I still find time to keep a very active local chapter of the TDR going. So I guess what I'm saying is I will get around to it when I can. As Bob said, we will be testing these systems and will have numbers posted by April 3.

For everyone else who is following and watching the testing, that is where we are at. There are some differences in the way they are going to be set up between the three test trucks, none of those differences should make a difference in the performance factors.

The Preporator system is constantly evolving and being improved and we have been working closely with the manufacturer on this.

Our findings, good bad or indifferent will be posted here for all to see. Regardless of what we see, I can guarantee you it will be disputed, criticized, and disbelieved. That's just what happens here. What you will NOT get from me and my group is a bunch of "paid" advertising to sway your buying decision.
