I am looking into buying a FASS system for my truck. I have a couple of questions for guys who have already installed one. Does the placement of the system make it prone to damage? I drive a lot of gravel roads, but I don't plan on doing any heavy offroading. The way I understand it this should be the last fueling system I will need even with the bombs I have and the ones I plan for the future. I won't need any bigger banjo bolts or larger fuel lines, Am I correct in my thinking? Also how does my fuel pressure probe install? Now its in the top of my fuel filter cannister.

I just installed a fass on my 3500. I'm on a lot of gravel roads also, the recommended placement is in the dead space in front of the driver side rear wheel. Between the bed and frame rail. Been keepin a close eye on it for dings and scratches on the filter. None yet. Don't think you'll have much problem, unless you spin the tires in reverse that may throw some stones toward the fass.



I tested the flow volume at the banjo fitting feeding the VP44 (I run mine thru the stock filter also) I filled a quart jug in about 10-12 secs. through the 3/8 fuel line provided. That said, I don't think you have an issue with the stock banjos.

The kit from DPP provides all the fittings you need to run your FASS in many different combinations with the guage. Thru the stock filter or staright to the VP44.



IMHO I highly recomend the FASS. It's well built, provides all the fuel pressure, and flow volume you'll need to keep your VP44 happy. The brackets w/kit were all . 25 in steel. Very solid. Took about 1. 5 hrs. to do a real clean install, didn't even have to jack up the truck.



Try Piers I got mine for around $450. 00 there.

I have had my FASS on my truck for a few months and no problems. They give you everything you need to install it( takes a few hours in the driveway). PDR will give you 10% off for being a TDR member.

I put a piece of a mud flap in front of my FASS to protect it!

It works great, not a single ding in anything.

Thats a good idea using the mud flap!! I don't drive on many gravel roads but if I did, I would build a rock shield in between the FASS and the rear tire but not the whole thing so it still cools with passing air.
 
Wow!!!!!!!

I used the search feature and looked up both the Fass and the Air Dog I had no idea that this was such a hot topic. I have spent the majority of the evening reading these threads. It sound like there are a lot of options out there. The local guy here sells the Fass, So I think thats What I'll go with. I live in Anchorage Alaska, so the choices are limited and shipping is expensive.
 
I put a mud flap on mine too, werks great! Les, the FASS is a nice set up in my oppinion, they're going to tell you to lower the tank in the instructions, it's much easier to unbolt the bed and block it up, you'll also have to take the plastic fenderwell out ( chisel off the plastic pop rivits), I put 1/4-20 stainless nuts, bolts, and fender washers to put the well back, I also fabricated my own bracket to mount it because I thought the bracket was poorly made for the weight of that FASS pump, the way they want to mount it and what they want to mount it to is too flimsy in my oppinion, ray
 
If you're talking about the same "local" guy I'm thinking about, all you get is the FASS. You're on your own as far as connections/lines/relay, etc. Personally, if you're going to spend that much money I would be looking at the RASP. No doubt it's more $$$ but it'll put an end to your worries. I was in the same boat you were earlier this month, and like you, I did several searches/research and the FASS is not immune to problems either. I didn't feel like rolling the dice and always having a little doubt to whether or not I would have issues with it..... JMHO. If your FASS was to lose FP while your out in the booneys your S. O. L. If the belt was to break on the RASP your stock LP picks up the task of suppling the fuel until you can replace your belt... food for thought.
