Intercooler question

John Deere 450 dozer oil in coolant

Well we have a select few F&F club like members temp'ing @ work there always talking trash well I had it so I challenged the "ring Leader" to a little DRAG after work ON A CLOSED ROAD they were all trash talkin' all day at work we have a big plant with a big vacant paved driveway just long enough to get going about 80MPH (ROAD WAS CLOSED NO DANGER OF ANYONE GETTING HURT)well I fired up the beast let the water temp come up went 5x5 on the comp and staged   what happened next I think every cummins owner should of seen. I smoked him buy about 5 car lenghts and he was not happy at the end all his buds were like i seen it man you missed a gear didnt ya'... ... ... ... ... ... ... . yeah he said "I missed a gear "

Yeah right

Neadless to say when I go back in 2 days the talk will stop and it'll turn to cryin'... ... . :D

I weigh about 3 times that little fiberglass piece of junk and blew its doors ... ... Aint life great!!!!!

I LOVE MY TRUCK

Just think if I had my trany upgrades It would have been alot worse!!!

Now a mustang big ford guy wants to race me ..... not sure if I can get him or not so I challenged him to race up a steep hill . . I know I could take him then. It'd be hard to find a safe uphill strip so Ill probly race on a level plane I think he may get me BUT Im not scared.

Has anyone ran a cummins with just a comp and exh and intake mods down the strip ???? I wonder what one could do??

Hey Diesel, I would like to send one your way! It's a Chev... he's been beatin the heck out of it at the local flaslight drags. I don't know if he has done anything to it other than the box, but he sure likes to burn up the runway at the local drags. I haven't seen anyone with a Cummins take him on, but I missed the last one. Better get those gauges and transmission upgrade or you may not stay at the top for long. Mine is still stock for now but 1 year is just about up and thats long enough for me, I will have to start upgrading... ... ... .

ive had some similar problems witha couple of local ferd guys. all talkin trash. one of them has a stock 6. 0. he kept sayin he would leave me in the dust with his truck. i told him theres no way he could keep up with me and my truck knowing what i have done to the engine. so were getting ready to leave school, and i tell him to get behind me and if you truck can do what you say it can do, youll be able to keep up with me. so we pull out onto a long stretch of road, and i stop. hes right behind me. i floor it and look behind me to see that plesantly familiar black cloud of smoke and the i see his truck emerege from the cloud. needless to say i left him in the "dust" by 4 truck lengths. the next day he's in denial and everything. oh well made another non believer, a believer.

Sounds like fun :) i can,t wait to have more power. I have noticed since i got mine a lot of poeple try to get ahead of my truck because its a diesel and they think its going to be slow. Most poeple have no idea how much power you can get out of these things or how much they have stock

Cummins phylosiphy

Ive rode in many CTD's that I'd put against some very fast cars title for title.

And I personally think the first thing people do when you let them drive your truck is see how fast it'll go... ..... Its very hard to explain to people that its really not that kind of power and how they will never realize what there driving untill they get to a big hill and notice as the turbo spools up and the crest of the hill is getting closer that they are accutally gaining alot of speed with little throtle ,,and they'll see even that much more while loaded.

I also feal that a stock CUMMINS will out run alot of performance style stock vehicals at a steep incline... ... ... . this may never achive its full appriseation due to the fact that it seldom arrises.

The increase in speed from a dead stop @ the bottom of a hill with the COMP on 5x5 is just ... ... ... ..... increadable... ... ..... period!!!!!! Id be willing to line up at the bottom of a hill against just about anything owned by anyone who doesnt belong to this site... LOL

Speed is only a bonus for me with the power I have and the comfort and versitllity of the truck in general I dont think Ill ever own another vehical for myself thats not a CTD/MOPAR.

I do have to stress the fact that the COMP may not be the best idea for the longjevity of the motor ,drivetrain, or the driver

I can tell that my truck is not as tight fealing as it was before the COMP it dont quite feal brand new anymore I alway took it easy on my truck and @ 35,000 miles she was just as new-truck-stiff as the day I receaved delivery after a week with the COMP on and playing the truck drives and feals alot like my '98 did @ 135,000 miles ... I dont really think Ive took 100,000 miles out of the truck but I never added no more miles to it I can say that

With as wild as the comp is ... . if it wasnt for the fact that I could get it at the same price as the EZ I would of got the EZ.

Many say once you drive for a while @ 5x5 you'll never go back... ... . I will disagree with that statement ... . The truth of the matter is after driveing 3 mins with it on 5x5 I turn it to 2x2 and pay alot of attetion to every little noise... . paranoid... ... . maybe... . this truck has got to last me a long time after all Im racing $2,000 cars with a $30,000 truck that just dont make much sence. But if you got it use it ... you only live once and this anit no practice life... . you'll never remember an ordinary day. its only the really good or really bad stuff that you'll ever remember.

SO to recommed the COMP... ... ... ... . Id say NO

The best thing for the newer 2nd gens and the 3rd gen guy who dont have to tow for a living or use the truck for actually what it was built for... ... But they want to smoke and play ... . the answer is not the comp... the answer is a 93-94 cummins for $5,000-$7,000 and a screwdriver.

Ive been bit ... ... ..... now to keep my truck nice I have to spend even more $$$ to beef up the rest of the truck and when im done I'll have 1 heck of a truck thats built way beyond the point that I'll ever need or use. It'd be good advice to anyone that wants a comp to save up $10,000 to save the rest of the truck (more than a 1st gen) .

KEEP THE DAILY DRIVER AND BUILD A TOY ... ... ..... THATS SMART

This is just a 24 years old opinion

Sometimes I think my truck is too nice for me... ... ... . I dont think many realize how good we have it here in the US.

I know for one my life is almost to good to be true . and I dont want to get caught taking it for granted. $50,000 invested in a truck when a $3,000 car would serve much of the same purpose I use my truck for thats insane but thats whats going to happen.

sorry for rambling earler just had a moment

Partman Im all for that maybe we can smoke some ricers... LOL

Rosco your absolutly correct anyone on this site should have gauges TDR should get a TDR gauge package put together for the members @ a group price . Gauges should of been the very first thing I done then I could of seen exactly what my upgrades have done ... . HP over montering when $$$'s a key,,, but now that its built to a breaking point... ... . the gauges are only 1 step away all I have to do is place the order Im pretty sure that what Ive choose is whats best for me.

Ive began saving for the TC/VB shift kit ... I want my truck to be strong but I dont want to over do it I think the single disk TC with no lock controler will be plenty for my plans.

I"LL SAY RIGHT NOW THE SINGLE MOST SCARYEST THING ABOUT NOT HAVEING GAUGES IS... ... ... .

after you TB your waste gate and when your all spooled up and the turbo is whineing like crazy and you dont even know how much boost your creating... now thats scary

thinkin you LP is out and your just running on the VP is not a good fealing either

the answer is a 93-94 cummins for $5,000-$7,000 and a screwdriver

Just out of curiousity, why do you mention 93-94? they are both different trucks! (old body and new body, VE and P7100, etc. )

too bad you don't have some real power to the ground (450+). Their eyes really lite up when you do a 25 psi 4x4 launch and have them by 2 lengths at the 60' mark.

My latest was a kid at school w/ a fairly built up 351 mustang that dynoed ~250rwhp (he had the slip to prove it and he even showed it to me! lol!)... I warned him that if he wanted to race he'd better pack his lunch cause he'd need an extra 200 HP to run with me... he laughed and then called ME the ***** talker. 4 passes later at the track in Phoenix I asked him when the next time he wanted to race was and he said never (beat him by a full second on every run)... I haven't had a single person at school call me out since... shut them all up.

How embarrasing it must be for all the ricers to realize that the fastest thing around is an 8000 lb, beat-up, diesel pickup... . shame shame shame... if only they knew what true power was

Ive started 3 threads on diffrent sites like this one asking whats the best 1st gen to start with as a bombing project and of course once I weeded out the replies from people that were really partial to there model the answer to my question was unamious.

While on my 3 year hunt for a bombing project before going the route I have I discover that many old timers will not sell there CTD PERIOD!!!! and if you look at the price diffrence on newer CTD models the CTD adds $5,000 to the price of the truck sooooo... ... Im my expirence you'll never find a CTD for less than $5,000 intercooled or not. while in the hunt the trucks I was interested price wise were '93-'94 5-7 grand hard to find deals but they are out there ... ... if you want one with a good body I would have to travel to warmer states I found a '94 in EXT. shape inside and out for $4,400 in AZ 3 days drive at least I called the dealer and he stated that it was setting right outside his window ... . SIGH... ..... what a heart breaker... ... ... I couldnt bring my self to go threw with it ... . I'll probly regret it ... ... I already Do.

By the time you move up to '95's and up your better off just bombing your late 2nd gens or your 3rd gen

Not sure why people didnt like or recommed '92's and down as bombing projects.

THis is how I reached my OPINION Im sure many feal diffrent but this was my conclusion.

Plus the two models give you the diffrent options for what you want

Actually from what I understand the infamous "53" blocks were cast in Brazil I think it was, and the block to have was cast in Mexico. I don't know this for a fact just something I read here.

How well I know that I've got one of them :{

Yeah, I guess your right. The 93's seem to be the fave for first gen bombing, and 94's are the cheapest for 2nd gen. I'd take a 94 just for the P7100. There are not very many fast diesels here in New Mexico, the fastest i've seen is a 96 ATS auto, ATS turbo, runs 14. 5, next is a Duramax with nothing more than a comp, runs 14. 7. Joe donnelley does live here now though, so at least we have a high HP cummins around. Most of the time the imports and the like win at the strip against the diesels. We even have one idiot who has a 97 12V 5-speep dually that swears it will do wheelies!!!! Oh yeah, he says he has an edge comp on his 12V  ..... and he runs 17's!!! It seems like the guys in the diesels are the ones around here who act like the import drivers everywhere else do. It just seems as though everyone here with a coffe can exhaust is an idiot.
