Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fast Coolers or Trans-Cool?

Hey guys, I'm looking at possibly getting some of those trick aluminum finned trans coolers that go on either side of the transmission. My question is if either of them fit with a 5" exhaust?

Fast coolers used to have a shorter version available.

I was thinking if I buy the Fast Coolers and they're too tall, I could always mill one down a bit shorter for the exhaust side.

You might want to get shorter bolts, too. :-laf

They fit specific transmissions one fits NV5600 and the other fits G56 transmissions Geno's has the information on which is which.

they both fit on the 01 5", the transcool is the best built. and cools the best. on the g56 with the 5" you need to wrap the exhaust for about a foot starting at the hangar. makes about 10* temp difference

I realize they make them for two different applications, I'm concerned about fitment with a 5" exhaust and a NV5600.

ok let me try this over both the trans-cool and fast cool will fit a nv5600 with a 5" i am running both in our fleet. our first fast coolers i ordered with lexan plates on driver side. they all failed, it is no longer an option as soon as we tried our first trans-cool i never bought another fast cooler. on the 06 g56 the trans-cool upper fin is about 1/4" away from the 5" exhaust we run temp gauges. both trans cool and fast coolers are taped for probes. we noticed on the g56 it helped to wrap the pipe about a foot by the cooler. you might do that on your nv5600 pipe also

I have the FAST with some 3/8 aluminum plate covers I made after my Lexans failed. The trans gets hot while I'm pulling heavy in 6th. I am looking for all the parts to build a cooling system to put in for the hot times. The system will have a pump cooler and filter. I have not decided if I will run -8 or -10 line. This will give me extra capacity, more cooling and excellent filtration.
